Ireland South MEP Fears Short-Term Lettings Bill Will Result In More Vacancy

  • Resumen

  • An MEP for this region fears proposed legislation aimed at curbing the number of short-term lets in the market will result in more vacant properties. The Short-Term Letting Bill would require accommodation providers looking to make their properties available for 21 days or less to seek special planning permission and register with Fáilte Ireland. The Irish Self-Catering Federation is seeking a derogation within the legislation allowing existing short-term let providers to continue operating. Ireland South Fianna Fáil MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú says although the bill is well-intentioned, it won't necessarily lead to increased supply in the private housing market.
