We’re back with a new episode of Island Artcast, and our guest this month is Meg Hindley. You may have seen some of Meg’s artwork around the island in mural, painting, tattoo, and lino print forms. In this episode, Meg and Cal talk about all things visual arts, the importance of folklore in our sense of Manx identity, and balancing creativity and parenthood.

This week, we had the chance to catch up with Davy Knowles, a blues musician originally from the Isle of Man but now calling Chicago home.

Davy is a guitarist, singer and songwriter who first gained traction with local band Back Door Slam before moving further afield. His music blends blues, rock, and folk in a unique way, and he's back on island for a special gig at the Gaiety Theatre. We're grateful he took the time to fill us in on what he's been up to.

In the second episode of our newest season, Callum takes us on a journey through his experiences with perfectionism and writer's block. Here, we talk about all things art and each time I’m joined by inspiring Manx creatives to discuss creative careers as well as discussing burning topics from the art world today to keep that creative mind of yours in action.

In this episode we are talking about LGBT+ History Month, which in the UK runs in February to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 abolition of Section 28. The month is intended as a means to raise awareness of, and combat prejudice against, the LGBT+ community while celebrating its achievement and diversity and making it more visible.

Kensington Arts has announced a new event, “Schools OUT”, to celebrate LGBT+ History Month. The half-term event, on Saturday 26th February, will provide the community with an opportunity to come together and celebrate queer history.

To talk about this today we are joined by Peter Shimmin, who is the new Creative Development Co-Ordinator for the centre and Jenni Smith who is the head of Soundcheck iom, a music project that promotes young musicians island wide, producing regular Live Events and Studio Recordings.
