Jane O'Hanlon on how Poetry Ireland fills the gap between writers and schools

  • Resumen

  • Jane O'Hanlon, education officer of Poetry Ireland. We talk about the initiative Writers in Schools. She started as a teacher in a prison. She tells us what she learned from the inmates and still uses in her work. And she talks about how she thinks the arts help children to ask the big questions.

'The most powerfull experience of my teaching career has been reading King Lear with the inmates. They knew King Lear from the inside. It was a great example of how arts can help reflect and learn.'
