The Big Leap by Gay Hendrix re-hit the scene after the pandemic with a bang. Everyone was searching for meaning or purpose and this book offered many insights to living a life true to yourself, thus it became the topic of many podcast episodes and YouTube videos.

I finally read it, and want to discuss key take-aways I got from doing so. From moving to and operating in your Zone of Genius, to recognizing patterns of my own self-limitation and self sabotage so I could stop arguing for my limitations.

  • 013 - 48 Days To The Work (And Life) You Love - Dan Miller
    Nov 8 2023

48 Days To The Work (And Life) You Love by Dan Miller is a wonderful book outlining how to craft your entire life, not just your career, into what you desire it to be.

This book has been on my list to read for a long time but I have not read it because I told myself the 48 Days podcats was enough. This was a on over justification for not taking the time to read the book but this summer I made the decision to dive in and I am so glad I did.

I believe everyone should read this book regardless of if they are looking for a new job or career change. The steps outlined in 48 Days To The Work (And Life) You Love are practical for oncovering who you are, what work you feel most called to do, and aligning the two together.

  • 012 - Everyday Millionaires - Chris Hogan
    Sep 28 2023

There is so much talk going around right now saying it is impossible (and maybe immoral) to build wealth in today's society. I think that mindset is ridiculous and it reminded me of the book Everyday Millionaires by Chris Hogan I read a few years ago that outlines a clear process to building a million dollar net worth.

Is it easy? For some yes, for others no. Is it possible? Absolutely.

Even if you do not believe it is possible please stop stealing hope and joy from others who still believe it is. There are coutnless people showing a million dollar net worth is completely obtainable in today's world even with crazy inflation, student loan payments returning, all-time high credit card debt balances, and

This book gives practical steps for building a million dollar net worth, examples of others who have already done so, and the mindset practices encouraged to adopt along the way. You can become a millionaire and Everyday Millionaire by Chris Hogan will show you how.

  • 011 - The Daily Reading of 75 Hard
    Jul 29 2023

It's 75 Hard Week at JohnnyBoy Studios so of course I have to include an episode about The Daily Reading of 75 Hard!

I went through 75 Hard in the fall of 2022 and this podcast was born out of that journey. Part of the program is to daily read 10 pages of a non-fiction book which aligned with a goal I had to read more. Those 75 days gave me a framework for moving forward with the practice of reading personal development books on a more regular basis. That is a practice I will be reengaging with moving forward.

I truly believe the right books can change your entire future if you just take the time to read them.

For 75 Hard Week I had to talk about the task of Reading 10 pages of a non-fiction book (audio books don't count) and Johnny's Library was the perfect place to do so. Check out this episode as I dive all into why this was a game changer in my life and how I am getting back to the practice.

Go check out the brand-new landing page for 75 Hard and take a look at all the recommended reading listed!

  • 009 - The Proximity Principle - by Ken Coleman
    May 11 2023

In order to do what you want to do you need to get around people who are already doing it, in places it is already being done.

That's the Proximity Principle summed up in one sentence.

The genuis behind this book though, is that Ken shows you how to use the Proximity Principle to get your dream job. This book is not about how to use people and step over them to get to your goals, it is about being intentional with your connections and your time to make those dreams a reality.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken at an event and talking to him breifly about the book, he gave me more insight into how it can still apply to an entreprenurial journey not only a 9-to-5 career. This book will be one of my recomendations to anyone looking to change jobs or grow their own.

  • 008 - Think and Grow Rich - by Napoleon Hill (pt. 1)
    Mar 4 2023

Think And Grow Rich - by Napoleon Hill (pt. 1)

Often referred to as the blueprint for modern-day affirmational thinking Think And Grow Rich is not the book I thought it was.

This is not a book about "put it out into the universe and it will just magically come back to you" although that principle is addressed in the text. Think And Grow Rich will help you reframe your thinking on what you want in life, and take practical, actionalble steps to get there.

In today's episode I walk through just the very first part of the book and key in on 1 principle I believe encompasses the entire message of Think And Grow Rich. Napolean Hill gives excellent advice, clear (if dated) examples and case studies, and tools to hit each goal.

This is only the first episode covering Think And Grow Rich, there will absolutely be more to come. Think And Grow Rich is available here.

You can also listen to The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale on YouTube.
