  • Episode 8 - Rebellious Healing and the Spirit of Peer Work - With Sera Davidow
    May 14 2024
We're joined today by Sera Davidow from Massachusetts, US, for at discussion on peer respites, psychiatric dehumanization and the processes that (re)humanize!

The episode ends somewhat abruptly, but that's just because I forgot to plan an outro so I kinda just stopped recording. But I did thank Sera for joining KUBAcast, and I wanna do it again here.

It's was a tremendously fun talk and mostly on the lighter side, althouth the subject matter couldn't be graver. I learned a lot, and I hope you the listener will as well.

  • KUBA-scoop! Inviteret ind i psykiatrien MED mikrofon
    Sep 13 2023

  • Episode 7 - It's *still* uncool to call people disordered - Interview w. Noel Hunter
    Aug 24 2023
In this brilliant talk I speak with US psychologist Noël Hunter.

Noël is an expert on psychological trauma, a therapist, and an author whose book "Trauma and Madness in Mental Health Service" is a must-read for anyone interested in both psychiatry debate, mental distress and related topics.

We visist quite a few topics during this one-hour-conversation, and several key points have had staying power with me: Noël's personal story with psychological trauma, the cultural differences between Denmark and the US, and the simultaneous hope-and-despair that seems to be a native setting in those of us who engage in psychiatry-debates.

I hope that listeners out there will feel inspired to join a rising movement that clamors for an alternative to psychiatric pathologization of mental distress. There are more of us than one would think. If we all speak a little louder and a little clearer, we may yet find each other and pave the way for a new paradigm om mental distress.

  • Episode 6 - Ligeværd opstår i nedbrydningen af faglig distance
    Aug 15 2023

Samtalen varer cirka halvanden time med ufiltreret fritænkeri.

  • Episode 5 - Its very uncool to call people disordered - interview w B Levine
    Apr 29 2023
KUBAcast! is joined by Bruce Levine, a clinical psychologist whose views on psychiatry and psychology could not be more relevant for projekt KUBA's ambitions.

This was an incredibly fun and insightful interview to do, and we covered a wide range of topics relevant to psychiatry debate. The 17th century free-thinker/philosopher Baruch de Spinoza is invoked several times during our talks, and acts as sort of an anchor for different discussions on the fallacies of the pathologizing psychiatric paradigm.

    Happy listenin' everyone!

  • Episode 4 - Offering an alternative to psychiatry - Interview with LSLCS
    Mar 15 2023
    Welcome to episode 4!

This fourth episode of KUBAcast is in English, since today we've got Simon Richardson from the Leeds Survivor Led Crisis Service (LSLCS) on! The LSLCS is an organization founded and run by people with lived experiences with mental distress, and Simon offers invaluable insight into the operations of an alternative to psychiatric evaluation, hospitalization and support.

There are several important keynotes in this episode, and I've highlighted a few here, and I will be discussing these matters further in future episodes and debates:

    - The importance of lived experience as an anchor for the approach to mental distress rather than profession.

    - The importance of "sitting with someone's distress".

    - The benefit from approaching people in mental distress as equals who are experts in their own lives.

    - The offering of a choice: What does the mentally distressed person want? Some may want psychiatric pathologicalization, which is fine. Others might prefer people to talk to in equal, nonjudgemental (nonevaluating) settings.

I hope you enjoy this episode! It's safe to say that Projekt KUBA will take Simon and the LSLCS up on their gracious invitation to come see their work in practice.

  • KUBAcast episode 3 - Samtale mellem reform og revolution
    Nov 6 2022
I dagens KUBA-cast gæster Trine Torp podcasten. God lytning!

  • Episode 2 - Psykiatrihistorie og hvordan endte vi her?
    Oct 8 2022
