Kelly-Anne Byrne chats to Olivia Lichenstein, director/producer of the new Teddy Pendergrass documentary If You Don't Know Me

  • Resumen

  • Teddy Pendergrass is one of the greatest rnb singers in history.  Described by many as the Black Elvis, he had a voice like no other. Originally the lead singer of Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, he then went on to have a hugely successful solo career becoming the first African-American artist to have five consecutive platinum albums in a row.  Just as he was on the brink of superstardom, he suffered an horrific car accident at the age of 32 which left him paralysed from the neck down. In this interview, Kelly-Anne Byrne chats to Olivia Lichenstein, director/producer of the new Teddy Pendegrass documentary If You Don't Know Me about his life and how he overcame this tradegy and continued recording music after. The documentary is being screened in The Sugar Club on April 3rd with a Q&A with Olivia hosted by Jim Carroll.
