Kelvin Young: Sound Healing and Racism in Healing Communities

  • Summary

  • #125: This week we revisit episode #22 with healer and a person in recovery, Kelvin Young. After growing up in an environment that encouraged suppressing emotions, Kelvin's first experience with sound healing was "a sip of healing in a sea of chaos." He knew if he could feel that level of peace while behind bars, then the possibilities would be endless upon his release from incarceration. So he became a sound healer. After finding freedom within himself, Kelvin now reaches out his hand to others and breaks down the stigma within and about BIPOC communities.

Check out the episode to learn more about Kelvin as he shares his story and more, including:

    • The beautiful practice of sound healing and other holistic tools.
    • How media portrayal of Black men influenced racial trauma, addiction and incarceration.
