  • Kingdom Fire - Halloweens important role in Christianity
    Oct 27 2020
Halloween. What is the History of Halloween and why is that important? Halloween origins are celtic Samhain (Sow win)  Celebrated Oct 31  Celts lived 2,000 years ago These people lived where modern day Ireland and Scotland are.  Samhain (Sow win) marked the end of summer Associated with human death  Believed that barriers between the physical world and the spirit world break down this allowed more interaction with the Otherworld. Thought it was easier to speak with the spirits for divination thought ancestors might cross over dress as animals and monsters so that fairies not kidnap them. Notably:  Part of the celebration was to extinguish their fires during the celebration and relight AFTER.   Taking the fire out of your house 609 Pope Boniface IV created All Martyrs day 8th Century Pope Gregory III expanded to includeAll Saints Moved to Nov 1. 9th Century made All Souls day Nov 2 - to honor the dead was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints’ Day) Samhain (Sow win) was right before All Saints and All Souls day - the EVE of All-hallows -  All-hallows EVE eventually became halloween ----------------------------- At some point many of us have celebrated Halloween as a christian But As I have grown closer to the Lord and gained more knowledge of His Word, I have been convicted to reconsider Halloween. 1- Yahweh is a God of life: John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Halloween celebrates death, with the use of tombstones, skeletons and ghosts and many more dark things 2- God didn’t give us a spirit of fear: Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Halloween celebrates fear, with people dressing up as scary and sometimes demonic characters and for little ones, Halloween can be a scary time. 3- God hates witchcraft: Deuteronomy 18:14 For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so. Halloween it the number one celebration of wicca the religion of witches 4- Is it ok to dress our kids as the devil, witches, or ghosts; Do I need to answer this question Lev 20:6 - If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people. 5- What if we dress up as a good character: This is night when witches are casting spells and doing the work of the devil, do we really want to have anything to do with this Romans 16:19 MSG I want you also to be smart, making sure every “good” thing is the real thing. Don’t be gullible in regard to smooth-talking evil 6- Jack o lanterns: The name is tied to the Irish legend of stingy jack, a drunkard who bargains with Satan. Because of the unsavory tricks he played, he was not allowed into heaven or hell. Now he’s doomed to roam the Earth with only a hollowed turnip to light his way.  Hollowed turnips where used in Samhain the lanterns were said to represent either spirits or supernatural beings, or were used to ward off evil spirits. Pumpkins were not in Ireland, and when settlers came to the new world they substituted the abundant pumpkin for the turnip.  You can probably fit a bigger light in there anyway.   This is not something we want to have anything to do with. 7- Does halloween Glorify god, No it’s a celebration with dark undertones and used by the enemy to release his dark magic on the earth. ENOUGH SAID 8- PURIM - Some people suggest Halloween is related to PURIM.  A Jewish holiday, Purim is 14 Adar - February (Late winter/early spring) Purim according to the book of Esther is a day of fasting and gladness. They sometimes dress up and wear masks....
