Kurt Hignet of Blue Mouse Technologies joined Ron Fiedler on Podcast City Radio to discuss his organization and what it has to offer.

Kurt has over 21 years of experience in the technology industry and Blue Mouse Technologies has three locations around Adelaide and offers telephone support.

Blue Mouse is a technology shop that specializes in buying and selling computer and technology products, and mobile phones, helping customers with mobile and telephone accounts, gas, and electricity.

Kurt states that their service is quite popular, and they often get 15 to 20 customers coming in who have been scammed or hacked.

He also notes that the most common scam at the moment is when someone clicks around on the internet and their screen gets taken over by a giant pop-up that cannot be closed off.

The conversation is about what to do if you receive an alert on your computer that your computer is infected and a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft.

The advice is to turn the computer off and on again, as this will reset the system and give it a chance to process any updates it needs.

Additionally, it is recommended to turn the computer off at least once a week to give the battery and hardware a rest.

The advice is also to not let anyone remotely access your computer without knowing who it is you are giving access to, as this could lead to your bank accounts being compromised.

Finally, the conversation also mentions the scam of receiving a text message from someone claiming to be a relative who has dropped their phone and is asking for money.

The advice is to not fall for the scam. In this conversation, Kurt is discussing the current prevalence of fake SMS messages that ask recipients to send money to a particular bank account.

They advise against opening or responding to such messages and advise that if the message is legitimate, the sender will likely contact the recipient in a different way.
