Maurice Klein speaks with Freya Leach, Christian activist and Director of the Centre for Youth Policy, studying for a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law at Sydney University, with a very active social media following and frequently appearing as a special guest at events focusing on young people and politics. As part of the Australian delegation, Freya recently participated on the 31st March Of The Living (MOTL) at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. She tells us how privileged and life changing the MOTL experience first in Poland with Holocaust survivors and then in Israel was, and how it was the ultimate triumph of life and goodness over death and evil. Freya tells us that the importance of remembering and education is critical. Upon arriving in Israel for the second week of MOTL, the delegation was taken straight to the South to witness the October 7 devastation, which Freya finds difficult to describe, an "apocalyptic scene". Freya featured recently on the Josh Frydenberg documentary “Never Again - The Fight Against Antisemitism”, and tells us about the very hostile state of affairs at our universities, with the pro-Palestinian students wanting to create fear and intimidate the silent majority of supportive students for Israel and Jewish community into silence, so that any support for Israel is crushed with Zionists and Jews not welcome on university campuses. Freya also spoke at the Never Again Is Now rally in Brisbane over the weekend, which had another wonderful attendance and support for the Jewish community and Israel. Addressing the Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, and Leader of the Opposition John Pesutto, Philip called for: (1) the government to maintain moral clarity; (2) there to be consequences for government-appointed officers who cross the line; (3) urgent law reform; (4) focusing security funding on Jewish schools, and (5) increased attention to education around respect, antisemitism and the Holocaust.
