    Joseph Campbell was a professor of Literature in the U.S. and more importantly a chronicler of how we humans tell our stories to one another across our entire history. 

    He wrote an important book called The Hero of a Thousand faces which describes The Hero’s Journey,  a term that James Joyce created when writing Ulysses,   broke down all heroes tales into 3  parts. These are The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return.  Ken brown describes his hero’s journey from leaving his middle class home, to witnessing the greek revolution. to being help at gunpoint in turkey to the trails of Afghanistan,.Join us for Episode five of the LIFE AFTER life after hockey podcast, and travel with us in this epic story of discovery and loss.

  • Learn By Doing

    There are a few way you can go about learning how to do a thing. You can sit with a book , you can listen to a teacher, or in the case of Ken Brown you can learn by doing. Not only doing but in sticking with the doing of something. In his case it is Theatre at Strathcona High School complete with the music of the 60s, romance, and the counter culture. Also the learning of the shape of the world by seeing it radically change around him. And  learning about other peoples ,their ways of living as we go through high school and  beyond.
