  • Fixing digital literacy and access to the web
    Dec 7 2022

Can you imagine what your life would be like without the internet? How would you get around? How would you keep in touch with your friends and family? Well, 37% of the world's population have never used the internet. That's nearly 3 billion people.

In this episode of Lets Fix It, we hear from two social innovators who are tearing down digital divides and bringing emerging technologies to their communities.

Mikaela Jade used to be a park ranger in Kakkadu National Park in Australia. These days, Mikaela is CEO of Indigital, a business that aims to help embed Indigenous stories and history into the mainstream, by using augmented reality technology.

Luvuyo Rani trained to be a teacher but quit his stable job and started selling old computers from the back of his car. Today he runs Silulo Ulutho Technologies – an organization that provides digital skills to thousands of people in the townships outside Cape Town every year.

Social innovators are finding new ways to combat greenhouse gas emissions and climate change with speed and scale.

In this episode of Let's Fix It, we hear from two social innovators who are putting our planet first and fighting global warming.

Gonzalo Muñoz co-founded and led TriCiclos, a leading Latin American company when it comes to circular economy and recycling. Between 2019 and 2021 Gonzalo was a UN High Level Climate Action Champions for the Conference of the Parties (COP) and from that position he co-designed and co-led the global campaigns Race To Zero, Race To Resilience and GFANZ.

Nthabiseng Mosia is brightening the lives of hundreds of thousands of people in some of Africa’s most energy-deprived nations. She helped create Easy Solar – a pay-as-you-go solar distribution company in West Africa that makes energy affordable to those under-served by the grid.
