• 115 - Coercive Relationships with Guest Jennifer C. Parker, M.M.S.W.
    Apr 24 2024

*Disclaimer: This episode contains adult subject matter and may be a sensitive topic. Coercive control has been around for years, yet there are many people who are not aware of what coercive means. Control that is beyond normal could be happening to a friend, relative, co-worker or perhaps even in your own household. In this episode I am joined by guest Jennifer C. Parker, M.S.S.W., author of Coercive Relationships, Find the Answers You Seek. We chat about what coercive control is, some of the signs and setting personal boundaries. I have a copy of this book, and it certainly brought so many things to light for me.

  • 115- Positive Priorities - The Balancing Act Called Life
    Apr 23 2024

Life is a balancing act, and often we discover that what is priority for us may not be of importance to another. Finding a common ground that works with family and friends can go a long way in nurturing friendships and personal care. In this episode I reflect on times when one priority was in fact supporting the role of another priority, with a reminder that life with loved ones is precious.

  • 114 - Gracious Gratitude
    Apr 8 2024

Life brings lessons in many different ways. This past week I worked hard to prepare for a craft show, and unfortunately it was not well attended. At the end of the day, I still had a great time. The time that I spent getting to know the other vendors was worth so much more, and I will always have great memories of this past weekend. When we are gracious with an attitude of gratitude, it's amazing how much we can see things in a different light. In this episode I share what I was able to take from this experience, and I will continue to try to find this focus as I move forward to my next chapter. It's amazing how our view on the kaleidoscope of life can be amazing when we use a positive lens.

  • 113 - Positively Productive with Guest Lisa Zawrotny / Celebrating Creative Minds
    Mar 29 2024

I am a creative thinker, and maybe a bit on the quirky side. I recognize my creative thoughts don't work on a 9-5 schedule. When the urge to write short stories, poetry or a podcast hits, I simply need to stop and get that creative urge out of the way so I can better focus on projects around me. Most creatives understand this scenario, and it can present challenges when balancing creative moments with responsibility.
In this episode I had a wonderful discussion with Lisa Zawrotny, the founder of Positively Productive Systems and the host of the Positively Living Podcast. Together we talk about the challenges of a creative mind, methods to prioritize while allowing the inner artist to blossom. If you are a "creative", you will likely relate to this and if not, it may help bring some understanding to the creatives in your life.

  • 112 - Customer Relations - Finding a Positive Balance
    Mar 25 2024

There are times in business when people make mistakes. It happens, and it's life. People are humans and humans make mistakes. Quite often people have a different reaction to
mistakes, whether from the business perspective or the customer view. Either way, presentation and response can make a big difference on the final outcome. Sometimes we are faced with a situation and don't have time to think, and may find ourselves second guessing our own reaction. Either way, kindness on both sides can go a long way in mending a difficult situation.

  • 111 - Home is Where Your Heart Is
    Mar 19 2024

Homesick is a term I had almost forgotten about until my recent return to Canada's beautiful Yukon. I was quite surprised at the flood of emotions that targeted my heart on the last day of my trip. A little stroll through my old neighborhood brought back so many memories, and the hugs of my grandchildren and sisters made it really hard to leave. At the same time, I was happy to return to my current home on Vancouver Island. I figured it out. My heart is in two places, and even though I am now an island girl, I will always be a Klondiker at heart.
*After recording I thought about all the people around the world who are displaced during times of conflict and war. I realized how lucky I am to have my home, and my wish as always is for peace.

  • 110 - Celebrating Women with Gratitude
    Mar 8 2024

It's International Women's Day , 2024. What does that mean to you? For me, it's not about celebrating me but more about celebrating the amazing trailblazers from generations before me. It's hard to believe that at one time Canada's Supreme Court ruled that women were not people. In this episode I reflect on the advancements of women's rights, and give thanks to all people who worked hard for fair and equal recognition.
