Turn off the Heat, the party's over.
The Boston Celtics came out white-hot, scorching the Heat with a franchise record-tying 41 points in the first quarter, and led by as many as 37 points on their way to a 118-84 win in Game 5 of their opening round series in the NBA's Eastern Conference Playoffs and end Miami's season.
Derrick White and Jaylen Brown scored 25 points each to lead the way for the Celtics. Jayson Tatum added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Miami shot a laughable 3-29 (10.3%) from 3-point land. They were 3-16 (18.8%) at halftime. They did not make one three in the second half, and not one Heat player made more than one in the game.
Tyler Herro had another miserable night for Miami, scoring just 15 points on shooting, 1-7 from 3-19 shooting, just 1-9 from beyond the arc.
Bam Adebayo finished off a fantastic series, scoring 23 points to lead Miami, but he had no chance by himself against the Eastern Conference's #1 seed.
How bad was it for Miami? The Celtics shot 59% from the field, and 47% (10-21) from three-point land. The Celtics led for all but fifty-six seconds of games three, four and five.
The Heat came into this series without Star Forward Jimmy Butler, who hurt his knee in their play-in game loss to the Philadelphia 76'ers.
The Celtics will face the winner of the Cleveland-Orlando series, which Cleveland leads three games to two at post time.
