The Detroit Tigers narrowly missed a victory against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night at Oracle Park, falling 3-2 in a heart-wrenching finish. Despite taking an early lead with runs in the second and fifth innings, including a sacrifice fly by Ryan Vilade and an opportunistic score by Javier Baez on a throwing error, the Tigers couldn't hold back the Giants' late-game surge. Detroit's starter Beau Brieske delivered a stellar relief performance, tossing three hitless innings with five strikeouts. Kenta Maeda's solid outing, allowing just two earned runs over 4.2 innings, was undermined by critical late-inning runs surrendered by the bullpen. Jason Foley took the loss after giving up the tying run in the eighth, and the final blow was dealt on Mark Canha's sacrifice fly in the ninth. Detroit's Colt Keith shone with a two-hit game and a stolen base, but the Tigers' sparse offense couldn't capitalize further, resulting in a tough loss on the road.
