  • Summary

  • Adulting is hard. We all know it. Navigating our personal lives can be tough enough and then you’ve got the added stress of navigating work too. Whether it’s ‘how do I set boundaries with my colleagues?’ or ‘when’s a good time to bring up the subject of a payrise? (how do I even ask for one?)' there’s always situations at work where we could do with getting some advice. Well, what if you could ask someone whose experienced all these scenarios and quite a few others? Someone who knows all about high-pressure environments, how to manage difficult situations and people, and navigating the patriarchy at work. Maybe they’ve won some awards along the way? How about an OBE? Better yet, what if there was 3 of them? I. Stephanie Boyce is the former President of the Law Society of England and Wales. In 2021 she became the first person of colour to become President. Heather Melville, OBE, is Chancellor of the University of York and in 2017 received an honorary doctorate from the University of Portsmouth for her influence and impact on diversity in business. Janie Frampton, OBE, cemented her place in history as the second woman referee to operate in the men's professional game of football in England, before going on to a successful leadership speaking and consultancy career. • Captain Janie: Doing it Elegantly
    Jun 6 2024

Welcome to the first episode of Loose Suits - the podcast series to help you level up your work life!

The series kicks off with Janie as the first captain, meaning she’s in the driving seat with her fellow passengers, Heather and Stephanie.

This episode sees our three boss hosts introduce themselves, share a bit of their stories and how this series came about (spoiler: singing Whitney Houston on holiday may or may not have featured) followed by the usual features From The Week, Rant Roulette, Professional Dilemma and Work Confessions.

They cover the controversial story about Manchester City winning the Premier League - Janie’s captain so what did we expect?! However, the ladies draw parallels to the business and working world so it’s not completely football focussed. They also discuss workplace culture, the importance of inclusivity and how to do it well and discuss the question of whether it’s lonely at the top and how to make it less so.

This week’s Work Confession is a good one if you need to learn ways of setting boundaries, asserting yourself and doing it in style.

You’ll feel more than ready to kick start your working next after listening to these three bosses. So what are you waiting for?! Set your calendar to busy and get involved!

    Jun 5 2024

A podcast series hosted by friends Janie Frampton, I, Stephanie Boyce and Heather Melville. Three women all in different fields, Janie in sport, Stephanie in the legal world and Heather in business & finance, who absolutely know a thing or two about navigating the chaos that can be the working world.

Each episode has a captain leading it, meaning they’re in charge! Each episode will see the host bringing a current news story to discuss, a professional dilemma they need advice on, plus their rant of the week – something they need to get off their chest. Oh and they’ll also discuss a dilemma sent in by a listener, and give their 2 cents on it.

Ok so before we round up, what are the next actions? Book a meeting room, block out time in the diary, switch off your teams notifications and press play!
