  • Is Poly Worth the Hassle?
    Jan 22 2022

Welcome to Love Free Or Die, the podcast for Libertarians in love!

In this episode, Liz and Jay discuss the pros and cons of the polyamorous lifestyle, to include the following:

    Cons:

    • Stigma, discrimination, risks to employment and parenthood
    • The difficult work of deprogramming learned behavior and mindset related to ownership
    • The equally difficult work of inventing your own relationship structures from scratch
    • Legal issues surrounding things like marriage, power of attorney, cant have all partners visit in hospital (say)
    • More variables in basically every decision made, generally more complicated navigating the needs / boundaries of 3+ people instead of just two

    Pros:

    • Unparalleled personal autonomy for all parties involved
    • Freedom to hand-tailor relationships to meet specific needs, preferences, and circumstances
    • A much wider variety of unique partners
    • No need to put too "weight" on any one person, or having too much "weight" placed by anyone else, to be the sole provider of needs and relational happiness
    • Opportunity to breathe new life into stagnating relationships

  • Love Free Q&A #01
    Jan 8 2022

Welcome to Love Free Or Die, the podcast for Libertarians in love!

In this Q&A episode, Liz and Jay answer the following questions:

    • What’s the difference between consensual and ethical non-monogamy?
    • How do you honor autonomy and also negotiate on joint space/things? (i.e. cohabitation, children, pets)
    • In your latest episode, you mentioned "whataboutism". Can you please explain when it makes sense?
    • What do you do when you want to tell your family/friends that you are in a poly relationship, but your partner does not?
    • What's a good way (for a socially-awkward person) to get into the types of one-on-one conversations you mentioned in episode 2?
    • My friend M.P. drinks Bud Light every single day. Should I be worried about his health/taste in malt liquor? (Dammit, Jeff)
    • What's the relationship between libertarianism and libertineism? What's it like going around fucking everything that moves while injecting heroin into your eyeballs and murdering everyone who crosses you?
    • Can we unpack the stereotype that the only way to be “correctly” bisexual is to be polyamorous?
    • How can you tell whether you're on a relationship escalator or not?
