  • Encore Ignite Healing Superpowers:Dr. Orloff's Genius of Empathy
    Oct 18 2024
Empathy is so much more than feeling deeply -It holds a transformative power to heal ourselves, strengthen our relationships, and amplify our purpose. Judith Orloff, MD, author of the new book, 'The Genius of Empathy: Practical Skills to Heal Your Sensitive Self, Your Relationships and the World', will take you beyond the typical definition of empathy to show you how to empathize without over-giving or burning out. Drawing on insights from neuroscience, psychology, and energy medicine, Dr. Orloff will discuss how to access your sensitivities, soothe your nervous system, and stop absorbing the emotions of others. She'll also discuss the importance of empathic listening, setting healthy boundaries and loving detachment (especially with toxic relationships) to prevent overwhelm. All of us can learn to be more empathic - its genius is highly attainable. It's a superpower that's within everyone's reach. Empathy requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. When we reach for our most admirable kindness within, we find a path out of misunderstanding and hate. Practicing empathy recalibrates us toward healthier ways of behaving and perceiving the world. We learn to live in a more spacious, heartfelt place where we can see every situation from the most compassionate, big-picture place. Dr. Orloff will take live calls from listeners. • GRATITUDE: Finding Beauty in What's Broken with Melinda Kapor
    Oct 4 2024
No matter what hardships happen in life, there is always a gift within for our Higher Good. Recognizing the gift often takes shifting one's perspective in order to see it. Melinda will give us insight on how to do so. This time, in speaking about gratitude and finding the beauty in what's been broken, Melinda uses the analogy of 'kintsugi'. Kintsugi, which means joining with gold, is a Japanese art form in which broken ceramics are repaired by using a bonding material made with gold. Since no two objects shatter in the same way, the result of each repaired item is beautifully unique. Just as 'kintsugi' transforms broken pottery into a one-of-a-kind piece of art, gratitude allows us to see the beauty that arises from overcoming our individual challenges. Both teach us that beauty can be found in the midst of brokenness, and that there is strength and resilience in acknowledging and honoring our past struggles. Just as the practice of 'kintsugi' creates a more valuable item than before, so does gratitude shift our focus to recognizing and appreciating our distinctive, precious selves.
