• Fixing Our Feet with Jim Dooner | Ep. 42
    Jul 10 2024

Jim Dooner is the Head Physiotherapist of The Foot Collective, a global health community whose primary focus is feet. Their mission is to "empower as many people as possible with the knowledge, skills and tools they need to create more foot and movement freedom in their lives."

For the past few years I've been wearing Xero Shoes, and absolutely loving the freedom my feet feel while inside of a shoe. We have recently moved to Australia, where we are now barefoot now more than ever which is even better. Our feet are one of the most overlooked and neglected parts of our body, and we don't realize the enormous impact they have on so many parts of our daily lives. Jim talks about the science around the foot, how we can improve our foot function, and ultimately our quality of life.

  • Built to Move with Kelly and Juliet Starrett | Ep. 41
    Jul 9 2024

Kelly and Juliet Starrett are the founders of The Ready State, and authors of the New York Times' Bestseller Built to Move. "This is the first body book written for exercisers and nonexercisers alike. It’s full of foundational wisdom for everyone from professional athletes to gym haters and everyone in between. Built to Move introduces readers to a set of simple principles and practices that are undemanding enough to work into any busy schedule, lead to greater ease of movement, better health, and a happier life doing whatever it is you love to do—and want to continue doing as long as you live. This book is your game plan for the long game."

This is my second time interviewing Kelly, first with Juliet, and I wish I could interview them one-hundred times more. They have an amazing perspective on fitness and health, and especially how that weaves into parenting. They are masters of their craft, designing simple and effective movements practices that are accessible to all. This book is one that should be in everyone's home, and incorporated into all of our lives.

  • Soul Searching Adventures with Michael Cazayoux | Ep. 39
    Jul 1 2024

Michael Cazayoux is a former CrossFit Games champion, founder of the Brute Strength Podcast (now the Michael Caz Podcast), and co-founder of the nutrition coaching company Working Against Gravity. I listened to his podcast for years, consuming all the amazing content he put out there, and it was a huge inspiration for me creating this podcast and seeking to interview some amazing people.

His latest project is the one I've been the most intrigued by, Soul Searching Adventures. His tagline reads, "Men Wanted. For hazardous wilderness journey, physical and emotional hardship guaranteed, many days completed disconnected from society, constant danger, safe return doubtful. Growth, clarity, peace and connection in case of success."

I share a similar passion to Michael's regarding the power that experiences outdoors and in the wilderness can have on us, and I loved getting the chance to hear him explain more about it and hear where this passion of his comes from.

Please join us as I talk with Marcus Filly, founder of Functional Bodybuilding and former CrossFit games athlete. I have been following him for years, drawn to his unique programming that blends functional training, high intensity, longetivity principles, and fun. I wanted to pick his brain about how his training has evolved over the years, especially now being a father, and how he prioritizes fitness and health for his kids.

    From https://functional-bodybuilding.com/about/:
Hi, I’m Marcus Filly, the founder of Functional Bodybuilding. After leaving medical school, I turned instead to health and fitness to help people more directly with training and nutrition in their day to day lives. Drawing on an extensive training background in soccer and my competitive Crossfit career, I owned an affiliate for years before changing methodologies to help athletes better succeed through individual coaching. After the 2016 CrossFit Games, I was burned out and broken, and about to become a first time father. Functional Bodybuilding was born out of a need to train more for longevity and sustainability – while still looking good and moving well.
