Karen Svoboda describes herself as, a proud mom, lover of equity, and works best alongside justice warriors and advocates for public education. Karen has been in nonprofit management for 25 years.

She is the Executive Director at Defense of Democracy, whose mission is:

Defense of Democracy to educate the public about the value of inclusivity and the importance of emotional and physical safety for all individuals within the American public-school and library systems.

We support educators who present historically and scientifically accurate information, and encourage initiatives that enhance Americans’ shared experiences regardless of race, color, national origin, language, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, religion, or ability.
