By: Adrienne Smith
  • Summary

  • Most people don’t peel the curtain back to share the messy progress, we only see the sexy, shiny outcome and frankly, I’m over it. It’s not real life. Hi! I’m Adrienne Smith, the queen and the host of Messy Progress. I am a wellness coach, world record holder, mother, entrepreneur, business owner, wife, friend, sister, Messy Progress podcast host, trip sitter and a whole lot of other labels on any given day depending on who you are asking, but most of all, I’m human. Every Thursday I’ll shine a light on what lives behind the highlight reel and dive into how making a mess leads to success. I constantly find myself asking questions like, “Is this really what life is suppose to look like?” “Is this it?” “Is there more?” I live for reigniting your passion and supporting you in getting unstuck. If you crave inspiration and need a swift kick in the pants - I’ve got you. We’re going to go from indecisive to determined, from confined to full on liberated through shockingly relatable conversations, eye-opening interviews and stories. You will get tips and tools necessary to take the next right steps towards living into your unwavering confidence in the boardroom, the bedroom and in all of your relationships - especially the one with yourself. It’s time to get messy, uncage ourselves and set ourselves free. Welcome to messy progress.

  • Screw the “Just Say No” to Drugs Campaign with Dr. Amanda Reiman
    Nov 2 2023

In this episode, we delve deep into the fascinating world of cannabis, exploring its potential as a life-enhancing tool and shedding light on the shortcomings of the infamous "Say No to Drugs" campaign. Together we navigate through the murky waters of drug education campaigns and examine why the simplistic "Just Say No" message has proven to be ineffective and counterproductive and the new slogan “Just Say Wait” has been adopted. Nobody likes being told no, and it's high time we rethink our approach to substance education.

We also explore the concept of choice and readiness in the context of cannabis consumption. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or just curious, we emphasize that responsible use and education are key to harnessing the plant's potential for wellness and self-discovery.

Tune in to this thought-provoking episode, where we challenge the status quo, champion the power of knowledge, and advocate for a more nuanced perspective on cannabis. It's time to empower yourself and make informed choices that could potentially enhance every aspect of your life.

Amanda Reiman PhD, MSW is the founder of Personal Plants, is an activist, social worker, and researcher with twenty years of experience studying the relationship between people and plants. Oct 26 2023

In this thought-provoking podcast episode, we dive deep into the transformative power of going against the grain and embracing our unique life journeys. Join us as we explore the concept of owning the state that we are in and the remarkable progress we're working on making.

I’m being interviewed in this episode and I expand into the idea of “seeing for yourself” with a lot of details about my row across the ocean, my experimentation with psychedelics and how having the last year to reflect has given me the freedom to be more creative… and just that - FREE!

Vulnerability takes center stage as we discuss the importance of sharing our stories authentically. I open up about my own trials and tribulations, demonstrating how being open and honest about our experiences can be a powerful catalyst for personal growth and connection with others.

But it's not just about being vulnerable with the world; it's about being light with ourselves too. We explore self-compassion and how forgiving our past mistakes can free us to be our best selves in the present.

Whether you're at a crossroads in your life, yearning to make a change, or simply seeking inspiration to embrace your individuality, this episode will leave you feeling motivated and empowered to own your unique story, unapologetically pursue your goals, and find lightness in your journey.

Tune in to this enriching conversation, and join us on a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the beauty of embracing the unconventional path.

Thanks to District 216 for sharing this interview with me. District 216 is a Psychedlic Social Club in Santa Barbara. A place for thinkers, creators and trailblazers. A community where Education meets entertainment in art, music, cannabis and psychedelics.
