    Uncle Gerald had an idea. He wanted to coach little league baseball, and he wanted Alan to accompany him back to the field across the street. He knew those kids needed a coach and wondered whether they might want him to help them. Alan wasn’t thrilled about going back to the field and was glad he didn’t have to because his mom announced that Ms. Ginny had called and wanted Alan to come over and meet her grandson. Alan looked forward to meeting a new friend and was happy he had at least one more day before he would have to make a decision about returning to the baseball field.
