• Summer Adventures and Family Time
    Jul 31 2024

As summer rolls along, we're all soaking in the sun and making memories with our families. Vanessa recently took a mini-vacation with her kids to a water park and the zoo, which turned out to be a fantastic experience. The kids had a blast splashing around in the water, braving the slides, and exploring the zoo's many exhibits. It was a perfect blend of fun and learning, with lots of laughter and some great photo ops. These trips are such a great way to connect with our kids and create lasting memories.

On a different note, we've been navigating the transition of our kids getting their first phones. It's a big milestone, and it's been interesting to see how each child responds. We've had some discussions about setting boundaries and understanding the responsibilities that come with having a phone. It's a whole new world for them, and we're trying to balance their excitement with teaching them about safety and appropriate use. With school just around the corner, these conversations are more timely than ever, as we want to ensure they're ready to handle their devices responsibly, especially with the added responsibilities of schoolwork and social interactions.

As we gear up for the new school year, there's a mix of excitement and nostalgia in the air. The kids are excited about new classes, reuniting with friends, and, of course, picking out new school supplies. Meanwhile, we're getting back into the routine of early mornings, homework, and after-school activities. It's a busy time, but also an opportunity to set new goals and create a smooth transition back into the school year. Amidst all this, we're also taking a moment to reflect on the joys and challenges of parenting, appreciating these fleeting moments as our children grow up so quickly.

So, here's to enjoying the last days of summer, preparing for the new school year, and navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood together. It's not always easy, but with a bit of planning, patience, and a good sense of humor, we're making it work!

  • Fireworks, Fitness, and Feelings: Our 4th of July Journey
    Jul 10 2024

In the latest episode of MOMster No More, we dived into our Fourth of July celebrations and shared all the delightful chaos that comes with family gatherings. The day was filled with laughter, barbecues, and fireworks, creating unforgettable memories with our loved ones. We reminisced about the kids' excitement as they watched the fireworks light up the night sky and how our carefully planned activities turned into a joyful mess of impromptu games and giggles. Despite the occasional hiccups, like burnt hot dogs and a brief shower of rain, the day was a perfect blend of togetherness and fun.

As the weekend rolled in, we shifted from the festivities to a more structured routine by starting the 75 Hard Challenge. This challenge, which includes daily exercise, reading, and maintaining a clean diet, pushed us to our limits but also brought a sense of discipline and accomplishment. We discussed the initial struggles of fitting the challenge into our busy schedules and the support we provided each other to stay on track. It was inspiring to see how committing to these small, consistent habits began to positively impact our overall well-being and mindset.

The episode concluded on a heartfelt note as Tanisha opened up about missing her dad. • Getting Back on Track: Overcoming Workout Breaks, Kids’ Chores, and Financial Lessons
    Jul 4 2024

    Introduction:

Hey, MOMsters! Welcome back to another episode of MOMster No More. It's been a bit of a wild week here, and we're excited to catch you up on everything.

    Segment 1: Unexpected Workout Break

So, let's dive right in. Last week, I had an unexpected workout break. You know how it goes—life happens, and sometimes our best-laid plans go off the rails. It started with just one missed workout and then spiraled from there. But the important thing is getting back on track. Today, we'll talk about how to recover from these breaks, whether they're caused by busy schedules, unexpected events, or just plain burnout. I'll share some tips that helped me find my rhythm again and how you can do the same.

Segment 2: Phone Overheating and No Episode Last Week

You might have noticed that there was no episode last week. Well, here's the story behind that—my phone overheated and completely shut down. No warning, just a sudden meltdown. As frustrating as it was, it reminded me of the importance of having backup plans and staying flexible. So, we’re back this week, and I appreciate your patience!

Segment 3: Kids' Chores and Allowance

Now, onto something we all deal with—kids and chores. At our house, we've been reworking the chores and allowance system. It's always a bit of a challenge to find a balance that works for everyone. This week, Josh got Brooklyn a phone, which was a big milestone. Along with that, we ordered debit cards for all three girls. It's been an exciting way to teach them about financial responsibility and independence.

Segment 4: Rewards at Vanessa's House

Speaking of kids, let's chat about Vanessa's system. At her house, Peyton and Sawyer get to pick a reward each week. It's a fantastic way to keep them motivated and engaged with their chores. Vanessa has some great ideas on how to make rewards meaningful without breaking the bank.

    Segment 5: Favorite Holidays

Let's switch gears and talk about something fun—our favorite holidays! It's always interesting to hear what different holidays mean to everyone and why. We'll share some of our favorite traditions, funny stories, and what makes these times of year so special for our families.

Segment 6: Tanisha Missing Her Dad

Lastly, we have a heartfelt topic to discuss. Tanisha has been having a hard time lately, missing her dad. It's never easy dealing with loss, and holidays can make those feelings even stronger. We'll talk about how we support each other through these tough times and ways to keep the memories of our loved ones alive.

    Conclusion:

That's it for this week, MOMsters. Thanks for tuning in and sharing your time with us. We hope you found some inspiration, laughter, and maybe a few new ideas to try out. Remember, we're all in this together. See you next time!

  • Overcoming the Pressure to be Perfect
    Jun 5 2024

MOMSTER no more" is an initiative born from the candid conversations among moms who feel the weight of not measuring up as a good mother, wife, employee, or friend. In these heart-to-heart talks, many of us have shared how overwhelming it can be to juggle these roles while grappling with poor mental health. When our kids' schedules are packed with activities, events, and appointments, it seems like there's no time to catch our breath. The constant whirlwind leaves us physically drained and mentally exhausted, often exacerbating our feelings of inadequacy.

Being sick on top of all this can feel like the final straw. When our bodies are fighting off illness, the demand to keep up with daily responsibilities becomes nearly unbearable. Our minds race with anxious thoughts about falling behind at work, missing out on important moments with our kids, or failing to support our partners and friends. The guilt and anxiety compound, creating a vicious cycle where it feels impossible to find a moment of peace or self-compassion.

Yet, "MOMSTER no more" is about breaking that cycle. It's about acknowledging that we are human, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. It's about creating a supportive community where we can share our struggles and find solace in knowing we're not alone. It's about finding practical strategies to manage our anxiety and prioritizing our mental health, even when the world around us feels chaotic.

Through this initiative, we aim to shift the narrative from one of self-criticism to one of self-care and kindness. We encourage moms to take small steps towards reclaiming their well-being, whether it's by seeking professional help, setting boundaries, or simply allowing themselves a moment to breathe. "MOMSTER no more" reminds us that we don't have to be perfect to be good. By caring for ourselves, we can better care for those we love, and in doing so, we redefine what it means to be a good mom, wife, employee, and friend
