    It was a frigid December day in a small logging town in Maine, roughly an hour’s drive from the US-Canadian border. And despite the falling snow, Christmas shoppers were out in full force. While most of the shoppers hurried from store to store, a small crowd had gathered in front of the police station. The shoppers watched as an officer stapled a poster to a telephone pole. Then, when he was done, they shuffled closer for a better view. The poster contained a forensic artist’s sketch of a middle-aged woman. She had a narrow face, thin nose, glasses, and bangs. And according to the text above the image, the police were looking for this woman in connection with a recent double homicide. The murders were shocking, but they were also the most exciting thing to happen in this part of rural Maine for as long as anyone could remember. So despite the cold, the shoppers stood there studying the sketch and discussing whether it looked like anyone they knew. They were so caught up in their conversation, no one noticed a bundled-up figure hurrying past on the sidewalk. This figure slowed just long enough to glance at the poster and recognize the face in the sketch, which bore a striking resemblance to their own. Then, before anyone could notice them, the figure turned and hurried off into the falling snow.

This guy has an amazing talent for story telling!!

As soon as I stumbled upon Mr. Ballen's YouTube channel, I immediately binged everything I could find and wanted more. The crazy thing is I'm not a horror fan... I do not even watch scary movies... I don't really believe in ghosts or the supernatural, but something about the way he tells these stories just captivates you from start to finish! He keeps me entertained and totally intrigued. Mr. Ballen, thank you for being you and being so awesome! If I could have given this podcast 10 stars, I would have.

wild story!

i really enjoy your strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format podcast and you tube channel! I miss the days of the strange, dark and mysterious delivered in story format 3 or 4 times a week but I do much appreciate 1 or 2 a week still. you are by far my favorite and u are great at what u do! could u please tell a couple stories about being a navy seal????

Good Job Ballen

I truly enjoy the stories and the way you tell them. it's astounding how many crazy unknown situations there are out there.

I'm especially interested in the deep woods missing 411 stories. Also, I can't remember what episode, but the one where they record the voices of those animals in the woods, at that hunting camp In the 70's.

That was intelligent communication. whatever that was in the woods is not known to is at this point. That to me is very interesting.

Keep up the good work Ballen!!!
