"Son of a Preacher Man" is a song recorded by British singer Dusty Springfield in September 1968 for the album Dusty in Memphis. It became an international hit, reaching no. 9 in the UK singles chart and no. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 in January 1969. The album Dusty in Memphis was released in stereo, though its singles were remixed and released in mono.

"Son of a Preacher Man" was Springfield's last Top 30 hit until 1987, when her collaboration with UK synthpop duo the Pet Shop Boys yielded the huge hit "What Have I Done to Deserve This?". "Son of a Preacher Man" found a new audience when it was included on the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film Pulp Fiction; a re-release of the single reached number one in Iceland in 1995.

"Put a Little Love in Your Heart" is a song originally performed in 1969 by Jackie DeShannon, who composed it with her brother Randy Myers and Jimmy Holiday. In the U.S., it was DeShannon's highest-charting hit, reaching number 4 on the Hot 100 in August 1969 and number 2 on the Adult Contemporary chart. In late 1969, the song reached number 1 on South Africa's hit parade. The song rivalled the success of her signature song, "What the World Needs Now Is Love".

In 1988, Annie Lennox and Al Green released a cover version of "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" which reached number 9 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

So many others have covered the song like David Ruffin, KC and the Sunshine Band, Marg Mary, Third World, Gospel Singers: Mahalia Jackson and Albertina Walker, and Gladys Knight and the Pips.

The song is like an all time favorite. We should remember to Put a little love in our hearts. Jackie DeShannon composed a great song, Put A Little Love In Your Heart.

Gwen Guthrie was a singer was an singer-songwriter and pianist who also sang backing vocals for Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, and Stevie Wonder to name a few. And who wrote songs made famous by Ben E. King, Angela Bofill and Roberta Flack.

Guthrie is well known for her 1986 anthem "Ain't Nothin' Goin' On but the Rent.” It was released in 1986 as the lead single from her fourth album Good to Go Lover. It became the biggest hit of Guthrie's career, and the song's title became a semi-popular catchphrase among many women throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. The single peaked at number five in the UK, but hit number one in New Zealand, Zimbabwe and on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play.

Gwen Guthrie said in her lyrics: No romance without finance
    Nothing in life is free
That's why I'm asking you what can you do for me
    I've got responsibility
So I'm looking for a man who's got money in his hand …
You got to have a J-O-B if you wanna be with me.
