    Riley and Derek start the show by talking about Tony Voce’s funeral and thank you guys, the fans, for supporting the last podcast. The boys jump over to talk about their weekend plans and share some picks they like over on the bet365 app.


    Flyers young winger Bobby Brink joins us this week! They discuss Bob-O’s new contract extension, enjoying his summer in the area, and how his offseason training is going. Shifting gears, they talk about how Brink started playing hockey in Minnesota at a young age, being named after Bobby Orr, and his favorite player growing up. Moving on, they discuss Matvei Michkov coming to Philly, this past Flyers season and going into next, playing for John Tortorella, joining the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, their playoff run, and playing for Ian Laperriere. Bobby goes on to tell us about the jokesters in the Flyers locker room, and being drafted to Philly. Finishing up the interview he tells us about growing up as a small player, battling through a hip injury in 2022, and his golf game.

  • Episode 163: Michkov is a Flyer, Free Agency Recap, Panthers Win Stanley Cup
    Jul 4 2024

    Riley and Derek start the hockey talk by congratulating the Florida Panthers on winning the Stanley Cup over the Edmonton Oilers. They jump to the Flyers offseason with Matvei Michkov getting out of his KHL deal and signing with the Flyers, who he may play with, and how many points he could put up. Outside of Matvei they discuss Philly re-signing Garnet Hathaway and Erik Johnson, buying out Cam Atkinson, and not retaining Carter Hart’s signing rights. Jumping across the league they start off with the Steven Stamkos saga, the Lightning adding Jake Guentzel, extending Victor Hedman, trading Mikhail Sergachev, and the Nashville Predators being aggressive bringing in Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. Heading over to Carolina they talk about a couple former Flyers Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Walker joining the Hurricanes, Patrick Kane staying in Detroit, Jakob Chychrun questionable trade to the Capitals, Shane Pinto re-signing in Ottawa, and Sean Monahan going to the Blue Jackets. Moving along they discuss the Blackhawks busy offseason and Patrick Maroon (35:06), Kevin Hayes being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Anthony Stolarz signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Finishing up the news segment, Riley and Derek go over what the Oilers and Panthers have done so far this offseason.


    They recap the Stanley Cup Final, the Oilers being able to force Game 7, the Panthers almost having the worst choke in NHL history, Bobrovsky coming up clutch, and more. After that they discuss a couple noticeable picks from the 1st round of the 2024 NHL entry draft.   • Episode 162: NHL Trades, Flyers Rumors, Stanley Cup Finals Analysis + MORE

    Derek and Riley start the show by talking about Riley hanging out down the shore and Elvis’ summer tourneys. On a more serious note, they move on to discuss the latest rumors surrounding the Philadelphia Flyers and Ian Laperrière’s "new" extension with the Phantoms. Going around the league they discuss all the recent trades that have gone on this week including Jacob Markstrom headed to the Devils, the Capitals acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Kings for Darcy Kuemper, and Ty Dellandrea going from Dallas to San Jose. Sticking with the Sharks, Riles and Nasty talk about Barclay Goodrow being claimed off waivers from the Rangers. Some other news around the league they cover includes the Canucks re-signing Filip Hronek and Mark Friedman, Eric Tulsky getting the full time General Manger job with the Carolina Hurricanes, analytics in hockey, Kyle MacLean’s extension with the Islanders, the Columbus Blue Jackets firing Pascal Vincent and Patrik Laine wanting out, and possibly Mitch Marner getting an extension in Toronto.


    The knuckleheads jump over to talk about the Stanley Cup Finals between the Panthers and Oilers, Connor McDavid taking his game to an even higher level, and give their predictions for the rest of the series and give a couple of bets. To end the show, Riley and Derek answer fan submitted questions.

  • Episode 161: Sean Couturier | Flyers captain in studio

    Derek and Riley start the show by analyzing the 2-0 lead the Florida Panthers have on the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final, Sergei Bobrovsky frustrating the Oilers, and Darnell Nurse’s struggles. They discuss how much more physical the Panthers have played compared to the Oilers, they call for Corey Perry to be back in the lineup, Evan Rodrigues racking up goals, and a couple of questionable hits we’ve seen in games 1 and 2.


    Flyers center Sean Couturier joined the podcast! Coots starts the show by telling us he’s currently rehabbing from offseason surgery. The boys then discuss the Flyers culture shift, the legacy of Ed Snider, and the feel of Snider’s Flyers starting to come back. They also discuss the late season Flyers collapse. Shifting gears they talk about Sean coming into the league at 18 years old in 2011-12 and how fun that season was, starting out as a shutdown defensive specialist, and playing with guys like Jaromir Jagr, Chris Pronger, Danny Briere and others. They move on to remember the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and Coots playing in Team North America. They go on to discuss Coots getting a chance to play in the first line with Giroux and Voracek in 2017, and some of his favorite teammates. Finishing up the interview they discuss Sean becoming Flyers captain this past season, being benched and healthy scratched by coach John Tortorella, the 2020 bubble and playing for Alain Vigneault, and the great player and teammate Wayne Simmonds was.

    Ryan Callahan joined the pod!     Riley and Derek start off the show by discussing the recent Matvei Michkov rumors. They go on to discuss some coaching movement league wide including Craig Berube heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Sheldon Keefe joining the New Jersey Devils, Jim Hiller having his interim tag removed an officially becoming head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, Rod Brind'Amour receiving an extension with the Carolina Hurricanes. After coach chatter they shift to Ryan McDonagh being traded back to the Tampa Bay Lightning and what that could mean for Steven Stamkos, the OHL suspending Landon Sim of the London Knights, and Rick Tocchet winning the Jack Adams trophy for coach of the year.


    They move on to the Stanley Cup Playoffs starting with the New York Rangers eliminating the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Florida Panthers eliminating the Boston Bruins. Heading on to the Eastern Conference finals they preview the Rangers vs Panthers series. Out West Derek and Riley discuss Edmonton eliminating Vancouver, and give their thoughts on the upcoming Oilers vs Stars series. Also, they give a couple picks for Friday night’s game, and answer fan submitted questions!
