Naked Grief

By: Christie Campagna and Marni Martin
  • Summary

  • Comedian Christie Campagna and Clinical Chaplain Marni Martin talk life, death and everything in between. With an emphasis on grief they shed some light on how to recognize it, understand it, embrace it and how to come through the other side of it. With a little raw and dark humor at times...these two are able to touch on serious topics and help listeners see that grief is a normal emotion which requires a level of vulnerability. Grief is not to be brushed under the rug and it certainly is not an emotion we need to apologize for. It requires a level of openness and connection that most would rather hide from. Christie and Marni want you to go from hiding to healing as they encourage you with their light hearted phrase "Get naked and feel your grief".

"Two things need to happen to make you a better human being. The first would be everbody needs to be a waitress or a waiter and the second thing would be to be with somebody who is dying." ~Marni Martin

Are you a Caregiver? Are you caring for a loved one as they prepare to leave this world and enter the next? Are you prepared? This is one of the most difficult challenges one may take on and yet one of the most important.

In this episode Christie shares a bit of her recent experience caring for a loved one as Marni asks tough questions that anyone in this position should be asking themselves.

Are you listening to your loved one?
Are you honoring what THEY need or what YOU want?
Are they depressed or are they experiencing sadness?
Depression is a clinical term...also sadness is a normal response.
Understanding the difference will help determine the level of care.
(This is in no way medical advice, we always reccommend reaching out to someone from your Hospice team for advice.)

Marni sheds light on the physical as well as mental difficulties this has on everyone involved. From physically moving a patient to undetermined timelines and the overwhelming feelig of guilt that often comes with the process. Caregiving can be difficult with a group of loved ones and may create more anxiety and tension when not handled correctly. It is imperative that we be mindful of our energy as the unknown unfolds.

If you are caring for a loved one in hospice remember, be kind to yourself, take it day by day, moment by moment and remember...

IT'S A PROCESS NOT AN EVENT.

Once your loved one has pased ask yourself:

What is healling to you? and Where are you connected to the one you love?

We pray this episode brings you peace in this difficult time. It is ok to feel your feelings. IMPERATIVE in fact! It is always ok to hide as long as you remember... you are on your way to healing.

As always, we love you and remember to GET NAKED AND FEEL YOUR GRIEF!

"CHOOSING FROM A PLACE OF THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS LEADS TO INFINITE POSSIBILITIES!" ~Marni Martin

The topic was supposed to be break ups, but we got much MUCH deeper! This episode turned into a free therapy session for Christie and prompts the questions for us all:

Will you catch the stress before it turns into diseasement? And if you do, will you choose an out that makes you feel safe in the moment, but worse in the long run?

How do you manage your stress? Do you run from your problems?

Are you running from your greatness?

Where and when did it all start?

Are you’re ready to face it head on?

Are you ready to ask and answer the tough questions?

Is it a mid life crisis or are you dealing with past traumas?

Maybe just maybe you don’t have to do it all on your own.

In this episode Marni helps Christie pinpoint a specific behavior pattern and takes her back to a time when a decision was made to find out where the pattern of belief started. As they break it down step by step... Christie is faced with some difficult truths as she begrudgingly goes from hiding to healing.

“Be connected to your compass and trust your compass will guide you. You have to put in the coordinates. And the coordinates are what is it that I think? and how do I feel? That discerns where the destination’s gonna take you." ~Marni Martin

Side note: Don’t ever be afraid to go for your dreams just do it in a manner where you are actually being productive. Are you creating from a life-affirming space or from a space of survival? That my friends determines the destination.

In this episode we touch on a few pointed questions....

How do you handle your grief?

Will you reconcile your grief before the 11th hour?
Or will you remain in idle awareness?

Are we ALL addicts? And if so, what or who are we addicted to? And are we letting it steal our power?

To keep this description brief.....In the words of Reverend Marni Martin:
“Handle your shit now and don’t be a douche!”
