    Mar 19 2026

Episode 100 – You Let Your Kids Down. Now What?

Most people love talking about success.

Very few people want to talk about disappointment.

In Episode 100 of Old Man Energy, Flint Anderson tackles one of the hardest realities of life, leadership, parenting, and entrepreneurship: the moments when you let someone down, when you let yourself down, and when life lets you down.

    Not the dramatic movie version.

    The quiet kind.

The moment when your child asks you to go on the field trip and you have to say no.
    When money isn’t there.
    When a business deal collapses.
    When the economy shifts.
When you break a promise to yourself and have to face it.

Flint breaks disappointment into three types:

    Letting other people down
    Letting yourself down
    Life letting you down

Through personal stories about raising seven children while building businesses, surviving financial collapse after the 2008 recession, rebuilding after bankruptcy, and navigating more than two decades as a full-time entrepreneur, Flint explains why struggle and disappointment are not always the enemy.

    Sometimes they are the lesson.

Sometimes they are the very things that build resilience, patience, discipline, and perspective in both adults and children.

    This episode explores:

How to deal with disappointment without quitting
How to handle letting your kids down
What broken promises to yourself do to confidence
Why children must learn how to deal with struggle
How entrepreneurs deal with failure and setbacks
Why social media comparison distorts reality
How delayed gratification builds stronger adults
What your kids and your team actually learn from watching you
How to keep moving when life punches you in the teeth

Your children are not learning the most from your success.

They are learning from how you handle your failures.

And one day, when they face disappointment themselves, the way you handled yours may be the reason they keep going.

If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who needs it.

  • The Anger You Won’t Face Is Slowly Poisoning Your Life | Ep 99
    Mar 12 2026

Have you ever met someone who seems angry at everything?

Not just one situation, but the entire world. Every conversation turns negative. Every person is a problem. Every event becomes proof that the world is broken.

    Nobody starts life that way.

In this episode of the Old Man Energy Podcast, Flint Anderson breaks down how hatred forms, how resentment grows inside the mind, and how unresolved anger can quietly take over your identity if you let it.

Hatred rarely starts as hatred. It usually begins with something real. A betrayal. A lie. A relationship falling apart. A business deal going sideways. A moment where someone you trusted hurts you.

    That moment plants a seed.

At first the anger feels justified. It feels like protection. You tell yourself you are just being realistic about people and the world. But if that anger is never processed, it starts to grow. The story replays in your mind. The narrative expands. Your brain starts looking for more proof that the world is exactly as broken as you believe it is.

Eventually that anger spreads beyond the original event.

One betrayal becomes distrust of everyone.
One bad relationship becomes hatred toward an entire group of people.
One failed business deal becomes the belief that everyone is trying to screw you.

Before long, the pain that started as a temporary event becomes a filter for how you see everything. Every relationship. Every opportunity. Every interaction.

    In this episode Flint explains:

    • How resentment and hatred grow inside the mind
    • Why replaying painful events strengthens emotional damage
    • How victim identity forms without people realizing it
    • Why social reinforcement deepens anger and resentment
    • How bitterness spreads into relationships, work, and family life
    • Why unresolved anger destroys trust and opportunity
    • The trap of enjoying other people’s failure
    • Why hatred keeps people stuck instead of moving forward

Flint also talks about something most people never admit. Sometimes the anger is not about another person at all. Sometimes it comes from letting ourselves down, breaking promises to ourselves, or feeling like nothing we are doing is working.

That kind of frustration can quietly turn into resentment if it is not faced honestly.

    The truth is uncomfortable.

Holding onto hatred feels powerful at first. It feels like protection. It feels like control.

But over time it slowly changes who you are.

You start assuming the worst about people.
You start seeing enemies where none exist.
You start poisoning your own relationships and opportunities.

And the person who hurt you may have moved on a long time ago.

In this episode Flint challenges listeners to confront the anger they are carrying, trace it back to where it started, and decide whether they are going to let that moment define the rest of their life.

You cannot control what someone else did to you.

But you can control what you become after it.

Hatred will change who you are.
The only question is whether it makes you bitter or makes you stronger.

  • Unmade Decisions are Killing You | Ep 98
    Feb 27 2026

You’re not burned out. You’re avoiding something. In this episode of Old Man Energy, I unpack one of the most misunderstood ideas in modern leadership and performance: work does not create burnout. Unmade decisions do.If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, it’s not because you’re doing too much. It’s because there’s something you know you need to do that you haven’t done yet.I came off a week and a half of the flu. Gym routine broken. Prospecting slowed down. Financials untouched. At first it was legitimate recovery. Then it became something else. Monday turned into Tuesday. “I’ll start tomorrow” became another delay. And the stress started building. That stress wasn’t from work. It was from not keeping my word to myself. In this episode we break down:Why unmade decisions quietly destroy your confidenceThe difference between decision fatigue and decision avoidanceHow guilt turns into anxiety and how responsibility moves you forwardWhy waiting for Monday is emotional comfort disguised as strategyHow broken routines shake your identityThe truth about confidence and why positive action creates itThe difference between productive stress and toxic stressHow mechanical discipline restores self-authorityWhy speed reduces sufferingHow small wins rebuild identity and credibilityIf your routine has slipped, if your confidence feels off, if you’re carrying decisions you haven’t acted on, this episode is for you.Confidence is not a personality trait. It’s earned evidence.Positive action creates confidence. Inaction erodes it.The question is simple:What decision are you avoiding that would restore your confidence today?Listen all the way through, then take one action immediately. And if this episode hits home, share it with someone who needs to stop waiting and start moving.Subscribe to Old Man Energy on your favorite platform.#Burnout #LeadershipDevelopment #SelfDiscipline #MentalStrength #EntrepreneurMindset #Confidence #PersonalGrowth #DecisionMaking #OldManEnergyWhat you can do to stay connected:👉 Like, Subscribe, and Share if this helped shift your mindset📥 Check the description for OMEMerch + new programs📲 Follow Flint on all platforms for daily mindset content Also check out two of my books for free!https://www.anyidiotwithahammer.flintanderson.com/https://www.momentummatters.flintanderson.com/Old Man Energy's Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/theoldmanenergyEntreprenual growth | https://750kmastermind.comFlint's Website | https://flintanderson.com/Flint's Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/phlintrock/Flint's Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/PhlintRock/Flint's Tiktok | https://www.tiktok.com/@phlint_rockFlint's Twitter | https://twitter.com/PhlintRockOfficial Merchandise | https://shop.flintanderson.com/

  • Cognitive Sovereignty: Stop Waiting for Permission | Ep 97
    Feb 12 2026

Cognitive Sovereignty is the decision to stop outsourcing your authority.

Most people are not stuck because they can’t act. They’re stuck because they’re waiting to be allowed to act. Waiting for the right time. Waiting for more information. Waiting for validation. Waiting for consensus. Waiting to feel confident.

Here’s the truth. Permission is never coming.

In this episode, I break down what “stop waiting for permission” actually looks like in real life and in business. I talk about why entrepreneurs keep building just enough cash to survive instead of giving themselves permission to create abundance. I explain why overtraining is often just procrastination in a nicer outfit, and why you’ll learn more from 100 real sales calls than you will from 1,000 books.

We get into leadership too, the real kind. Not the title. Not the position. Leadership is acceptance of responsibility, even when it isn’t your fault. It’s making decisions with incomplete data, owning mistakes without excuses, and moving forward without needing everyone to understand.

I also cover the top five excuses that keep people trapped, and why “trying” is usually just half-ass effort disguised as virtue. If you’re going to do something, do it. If you fail, you learn. If you keep “trying,” you stay protected behind excuses and you never find out what you’re actually capable of.

Then we go deeper into the mental shift that changes outcomes without changing the work. Same pressure. Same job. Same problems. Different interpretation. Pain resisted becomes suffering. Pain interpreted becomes training.

And I close with the difference between happiness and peace. Happiness is conditional. Peace is earned. Peace survives when life doesn’t go well. Peace comes from knowing you can endure, from telling the truth, from trusting your standards, and from doing hard things on purpose.

If this hits you, share it with someone who’s been waiting too long.

  • Repetition Without Applause | Ep 96
    Feb 3 2026

Repetition without applause is one of the hardest disciplines to maintain. This episode is about doing the work when nobody is watching, nobody is clapping, and you are quietly starting over again for what feels like the fortieth time. If you are showing up consistently, rebuilding, or staying in motion while the results are slow, this conversation is for you.Using Groundhog Day as a frame, this episode explores repetition, preparedness, and how to lead when life hits you sideways. From unexpected setbacks to criticism from people closest to you, we talk about why proximity often breeds contempt and how consistency exposes the excuses others protect. This is not a hype talk or a tactical checklist. It is a real conversation about discipline, legacy, and continuing forward when recognition is absent. We cover why you cannot plan for everything, how to stop mentally punishing yourself for things you could not predict, and why repeating the work anyway is the only path that leads anywhere worth going. We also talk about public accountability, criticism from family and friends, ignoring opinions from people who will not show up for your future, and why legacy matters more than immediate monetization. If you are tired, doubting yourself, or wondering if continuing is worth it, listen to this episode all the way through. And if it resonates, share it with someone who needs permission to keep going.#RepetitionWithoutApplause #Consistency #Discipline #Leadership #Legacy #MentalStrength #PersonalGrowth #EntrepreneurMindset #OldManEnergy 📥 Check the description for OMEMerch + new programs📲 Follow Flint on all platforms for daily mindset content Also check out two of my books for free!https://www.anyidiotwithahammer.flintanderson.com/https://www.momentummatters.flintanderson.com/Old Man Energy's Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/theoldmanenergy

  • Broke, Pissed, and Still Showing Up | Ep 95
    Jan 22 2026

If you are broke, pissed, and still showing up, this episode is for you.

This is not an episode for people posting wins, screenshots, or fake momentum. This is for the builders in the middle. The ones doing everything they are told to do and still getting hit from every direction. The ones paying bills while trying to build a future that has not paid them back yet.

The middle is lonely. You have outgrown old circles but have not earned your place in the new ones yet. You are building things you have never built before, often with less money, more pressure, and more responsibility than you expected. The movie montage version of this phase skips the part where you are angry, exhausted, and quietly questioning whether any of this is working.

This episode walks through that reality without sugarcoating it.

We talk about why being broke again does not mean you are broken. Why information is not your problem but decision fatigue is. Why this is not burnout but constraint. Why the math not mathing does not mean the dream is dead, it means you are in the lag. Why momentum feels like a lie in the middle. Why anger is not the enemy but direction matters. Why mechanical discipline beats motivation every time. Why silence is strategic and goals should be private until they are done. Why progress always looks like a mess before it looks like anything at all.

Most importantly, we talk about responsibility. No one is coming to save you. No one is coming to give permission. That is not a curse, it is the point. When you own everything that impacts you, your life gets simpler, even if it does not get easier.

If you are tired of building but still building anyway, you are not alone. That may be the emotional state of 2026, but it is also where real leaders are forged.

If this episode hit you, share it with someone who needs to hear they are not crazy and they are not alone. If you want to connect with others walking this road, reach out. Personal relationships are becoming more valuable, not less, and this journey is lighter when you are not carrying it by yourself.

Everything you are doing matters, even if it does not feel like it yet.

  • Sales Demons, Dragons, and How to Slay Them | Ep 94
    Jan 15 2026

Most people don’t fail because they’re bad at sales.

They fail because they never start.

In this episode of Old Man Energy, Flint Anderson breaks down the real reason sales feels heavy, stressful, and overwhelming and it has nothing to do with scripts, confidence, or talent.

    It’s the untouched prospects.

    The unanswered questions.

    The lists you keep avoiding.

Flint walks through the race analogy that exposes why people stay stuck, why preparation becomes procrastination, and why starting forces results most people are trying to avoid.

This episode is not just for sales professionals.

If you’ve ever avoided a hard conversation, delayed action, or waited to feel “ready,” this applies to you.

    You’ll learn:

Why uncontacted leads create more stress than rejection

Why sales is not persuasion but qualification and sorting

Why call reluctance is really identity protection

How avoidance trains your nervous system to stay stuck

Why early feedback is a lie and volume creates clarity

How to mechanically remove stress by turning question marks into answers

In the second half of the episode, Flint gives a no-CRM, no-excuses execution framework you can start today.

    Pen, paper, phone. That’s it.

    He breaks down:

What “touching a prospect” actually means

    The only outcomes that matter

How many calls to make daily

Why scripts fail and questions win

What to track so failure becomes data

How to burn your lead list instead of letting it own you

The dragon guarding the gate is not rejection.

    It’s delay.

The gate has always been open.

    The prize has never changed.

Only the time you waste avoiding the work stands in the way.

If revenue is stalled and growth feels impossible, this episode is your line in the sand.

👇 If this hit, drop a comment with how many calls you made today and what you avoided before you started.
