    We open episode 122 LIVE from the NH 10 Miler but quickly get to our guest segment with Jenene Vernon early on the Pod (03:45).
    We talk all about the NH 10 miler with some of our PodFam favorites at (01:42:15)

    Jenene Vernon shares her journey from hating running to becoming a passionate runner. She grew up dancing and had a strong aversion to running, even withdrawing from a college class that required running a mile. However, after her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, she decided to participate in a 5K race for a cause and found herself enjoying the experience. The second 5K race solidified her love for running as she saw improvement in her performance. Jenene emphasizes the accessibility of running and the importance of not comparing oneself to others. She also talk about their experiences with injuries, particularly her ACL injury and his road to recovery. They highlight the importance of mental strength and the support they received from the Peloton community. Eric also suggest the idea of a Peloton PT series to provide specialized exercises and stretches for different injuries (Peloton?). Everyone shares their experiences at the Peloton studio and their first Peloton classes thanks to the amazing community that Jenene and her husband Josh built with team Wicked Smart Zone. They talk about the welcoming and supportive community at Peloton and the excitement and nerves they felt during their first visit. Andy as we'll call him, an ultra runner, shares his running journey and the inspiration behind his running streak of over 4 years.     It's Anchor Down Week baby and we have the man with the vision, Anchor Down Ultra Race director, Jay Paganelli!

    Jay shares his journey into race directing and the birth of Anchor Down. The race started in 2015 and was designed to be a challenging and authentic ultra race. Jay wanted to create an event that turned off most runners and tested their limits. The race takes place in Colt State Park, Rhode Island, and offers 6, 12, and 24-hour options. The goal was to create a race that honored the tradition of ultra running and fostered a sense of camaraderie among participants. Jay's passion for the running community and his dedication to creating authentic and challenging races shines through in Anchor Down Ultra. Anchor Down is also known for its epic aid station and high-quality volunteers like Juice Box Guy. Jay, and his dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to create a memorable experience for the runners. The budget for the event is extensive, as it involves securing a state park, paying staff and subcontractors, and obtaining insurance. The race has strict qualification standards to ensure that participants are committed and passionate about being a part of the Anchor Down community. Anchor Down Ultra (ADU) has a preferred entry path that guarantees entry to those who make the effort to qualify and contribute to the ultrarunning community. The race also offers standard entry and an application process for special cases. ADU is known for its authentic and challenging nature, with a start time of 7pm to create a unique experience of running through the night. The race has a cult-like community and attracts elite runners who compete alongside recreational runners. The event has a low-key atmosphere with minimal advertising. After realizing she could qualify for the Boston Marathon, she trained and ran the Cheap Marathon, where she qualified. Jennifer's love for running and her dedication to training led her to run the Boston Marathon in 2023. Jennifer shares her experience running marathons and fundraising for charities. She recounts her journey from qualifying for the Boston Marathon to running it and raising money for the Red Cross.
