The weekend started off with the Food Truck Festival out at Oregon Trail Park. Several popular food trucks were set up there, and Greg and Stacey Schanaman donated half of all their sales and 100% of all their tips from their Dairy King food truck to the Jackson family.

And don't forget the State Patrol fundraiser, August 31st, drive-through benefit BBQ at the Nebraska State Patrol headquarters.

And speaking of the State Patrol, let's take a look at some police action from the weekend. First of all, the cows were out on I-80, evidently they're traveling east now, but that caused quite a bit of chaos and several calls to the Kimball County Sheriff.

And a quick reminder about the supermoons that you'll be seeing in the night sky starting tonight, look for the infamous Blue Moon.

And we had some horses out on County Road 32 and County Road W, and the Nebraska State Patrol was also busy rounding up stolen vehicles. On Friday, scanner traffic indicated a gray 2016 BMW confirmed stolen and spotted on I-80. Then on Sunday, scanner traffic indicated that they had just recovered a stolen Penske truck.

And also on Sunday, we had some hay bales on fire, County Road R and County Road 33.

Meanwhile, in the southeastern part of the Panhandle, scanner traffic indicated a physical altercation going on in Chappell that involved weapons in the house. Deputies confirmed no access to the weapons, cleared the scene, and they transported one male, 10-15, or arrested to Cheyenne County Jail.

Also, don't forget our public record every Monday through Friday when available, with daily Jail rosters, inmate search tools, daily specials from our sponsor Main Street Market, recent arrests and arraignments and court appearances.

Let's take a look at what's happening around the Panhandle for Friday, August 16, 2024.

A positive follow-up on that medical emergency that we had on Highway 26 on Wednesday, Family reported in, they did ask for privacy and respect, but did want to report that the little boy was able to go home. Still need some improvement though.

A reminder about our kiddos getting back to school and the road construction around the different towns in the valley, including a alliance with the road closure on West 10th Street between Ramblin and Highway 385.

And in Goshen County area man is wanted, Andrew Atkinson is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of strangling a household member and a fourth count of child abuse, each punishable up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Goshen County authorities are looking for the 26-year-old man accused of disfiguring his girlfriend by pistol whipping her and kicking her and pushing her and her child to the ground, amongst other things.

The community has responded in a big way after the Jackson family lost their teen son JT, a recent graduate of gearing high school in a tragic motor vehicle crash. At least two events have been set up so far with more coming in. August 31, drive-through benefit BBQ at the Nebraska State Patrol headquarters, and Greg and Stacey Shane, a man of Dairy King, posted another fundraiser for the Fast Food Truck Festival at the Western Nebraska Pioneers Ballpark. That is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 17, 4-9pm at the Oregon Trail Park Stadium.

Also, don't forget our public record every Monday through Friday when available, with daily jail rosters, inmate search tools, daily specials from our sponsor Main Street Market, recent arrests and arraignments, and court appearances.

It's time for Panhandle Scanner News. I'm your host, Brian Hale.

Let's take a look at what's happening around the Panhandle for Thursday, August 15th, 2024.

The post started, get out of the way on Highway 26 East between Mitchell and Scott's Bluff if you see a speeding truck. They've called in a medical emergency on a seven-month-old child and are trying to get to the hospital. Red pick up with flashers on. Scanner traffic indicated that ambulance services were trying to meet the couple as they came to the ER with their sick child. Details have not been released, and we're praying for the best for this child, their parents, and for those caring for the child.

Back to school safety is a shared responsibility. Local schools and local police departments and all of us at the scanner are busy reminding everyone about back to school safety. Be sure to be careful on the roads out there. And speaking of roads, new cement work was recently completed on Pacific Boulevard, and we've been advised to remind everyone that this popular route won't be open until Friday. Pacific Boulevard is closed from Gentry Boulevard to U Street for emergency street repairs.

And did you know that WYO-Braska weather cams also serves as traffic cameras? We just watched the Nebraska State Patrol assist motorists near Chilis in Scottsbluff on our Reichert Jewelers at Walmart Plaza Weather Cam. It sounded like a F-150 was pulling a GMC envoy to Crawford, according to scanner traffic.

A warrant has been issued for Matthew Hall, 40-year-old from Morrill, Nebraska. Hall is on the run after failing to appear for sentencing.

Also don't forget our public record every Monday through Friday when available, with daily jail rosters, inmate search tools, daily specials from our sponsor Main Street Market, recent arrests and arraignments, and court appearances. It's all available at PanhandleScanner.com.

It's time for Panhandle Scanner News, I'm your host, Brian Hale.

It's official... Parts of the Panhandle experienced so much rain yesterday that their weather stations were telling them that it was raining 'cats n dogs'.

Meanwhile, Ford Motor Company is again pushing their recall for their dangerous metal objects flying from airbags while driving. Affected vehicles from 2004 to 2014.

Further bridge delays as Scottsbluff Police reported vandalism overnight and are looking for your help finding the cement culprit.

Wheat Belt Public Power District is reporting a power outage this morning in the Lake McConaughey and Llewelyn area. They're working hard to get that restored today. Check the outage map at Wheatbelt.com. No Bull. Nebraska State Patrol, the landowner and his son worked in record time to get a loose bull back into the field in under 15 minutes.

And according to Scanner Traffic, an automated call from an iPhone indicated a car wreck on Beverly Drive and Pomona, no response to a return phone call. And when officers checked the scene, they reported that no MVA was found and the call was canceled.

27th in Avenue I was busy yesterday afternoon as officers were seen searching a white Colorado sedan where bags and weapons were visibly confiscated. At least one person was placed in custody.

You'll see that event there on our Facebook page along with a very nice tribute and remembrance of Captain Ryan Lohr. Be sure to visit our page and leave your tributes there.

Also don't forget our public record every Monday through Friday when available with daily jail rosters, inmate search tools, daily specials from our sponsor Main Street Market, recent arrests and arraignments and court appearances. All available at penhandlescanner.com.
