  • People who know more than us ft. Carmen Jiminez-Pride
    Apr 12 2024

Ever wondered how the heck to apply IFS to working with kids? Same!

In this week's episode of the "people who know more than us" series, we're honored to welcome Carmen Jiminez-Pride (pause here for applause). Carmen brings so much to the table it's hard to know where to start. Carmen is an LCSW, Registered Play Therapist, Sand Tray expert, IFS Institute trainer, entrepreneur, podcast host, author, product creator, and all around bad ass human! (That's the short list).

We were lucky enough to pick Carmen's brain in this episode, exploring the ways she integrates IFS, play therapy, and sand tray work in her therapeutic practice with children. She breaks down the differences and similarities in working with parts of children vs adults. She demonstrates how vital creativity is in working with youth. She also tells us what she'd say to parents who want to support their children in their mental health journey.

On top of all that goodness, Carmen shares what work she's done in her own system to become the business woman and therapist she is today, how she likes to get into self energy, and we learn a little about her makeup routine...

With so much gratitude we introduce you to the absolute force that is Carmen Jiminez-Pride, and hope you're as wowed as we were!

  • People who know more than us ft. Diana Dugan Richards
    Mar 29 2024

We are so excited to bring the first episode of our new series "people who know more than us" to you, and what a way to start.

With so much gratitude we welcome Diana Dugan Richards to our show. Diana is a registered and licensed dietician as well as an IFS certified practitioner. Diana works with clients in their relationship with food, body image, weight, and size, and creates a space where client's can be empowered to find their own philosophies around these topics. With specialties in binge eating, compulsive overeating, emotional eating, restriction and under eating, stress response eating, food anxiety, and food addiction, Diana brings so much wisdom to the way IFS can integrate in this field.

In this episode, we discuss the way parts show up to protect us in relation to food and body image. We explore the protectors that tend to come online and which exiles may be lying beneath. We discuss the ways traditional eating disorder treatment can be viewed as manager-led and the potential dangers of addressing food and bodies in that way. We also dive into the ways Diana has navigated her own system in order to create space for curiosity with clients and how that has led to her pioneering the work that combines nutrition counseling and IFS.

There is so much more we could say about what Diana brings to the community and the world, but we'll let her talk for herself; we know you'll love her as much as we do.

To learn more about the work Diana is doing or to get in touch with her, see below:

Diana's website can be found here: https://namastenutrition.net/

And just like that, we're back! We're so excited to bring you a jam-packed episode after our brief pause. In this episode, we use our own experiences of feeling disconnected to explore what disconnection even means through an IFS lens. What leads us to freeze? What are the warning signs in our system? And most importantly, how do we reconnect? Follow along as we share the ways our systems experience a "freeze" state and some of the ways we turn inward to get answers and connection. AND, at the end of the episode we introduce our new series (yay). For those of you who just join us for the gabs, don't worry! We also cover LIB, The Oscars, One Day, RHOSLC, sour candy, and more...

So many reasons to celebrate on today's episode. We're digging deeper into polarizations, we have our very first guest (yay!), and our girl Gypsy Rose is finally free y'all. Building from last week, we're bringing another episode around polarized parts. Natalie's super generous friend Haley joins us to talk pop culture and let's us do a live session! Grace guides Haley through working with a polarization and here's a unique opportunity to listen to what it's like to be on the client end of things if you haven't experienced it yourself yet. If YOU'D like to be our next guest, let us know ;).

A part of me wants to learn more about polarizations, but another part kind of can't be bothered... (lol). Welcome to our polarizations episode! Here's a little insight into working with polarized parts; why they show up, what it might sound like, and how you can start to name them. Listen along as Natalie role plays a client with lots of parts coming up to hear how Grace starts to map and separate two parts that are polarized. We plan to do another episode that will do a deeper dive on really helping and softening polarized parts, but for now you get the mini version and we hope it peaks your interest! Polarizations are so common and can be a game changer to notice in helping with decision making and clarity.
