  • REEL TALK S2|Ep5 - Riyad Mansour
    Oct 17 2024

My EXCLUSIVE interview with Ambassador Riyad Mansour, Permanent Representative for the State of Palestine at the UN, comes at a time when nearly all hope has been lost for a diplomatic solution to save Gaza.
But inspite of the hoplessness being felt at the paralytic procrastination of global institutions and world leaders to take the necessary actions, not just words, to end Israel's genocidal rampage that has now spread to Lebanon, it is important to acknowledge and celebrate the profound milestone achieved by the state of Palestine on 10 May 2024 when it was formally recognized as an Observer STATE by the UN General Assembly.
While many might consider it minor or meaningless, Ambassador Mansour explains its historic importance for Palestine in its bid to win full member status which would have a profound impact on Israel's ability to pursue its expansionst agenda in all the Occupied Territories.
For anyone wishing to increase their knowledge about the chronic Palestine-Israel crisis, I encourage you to watch to the end.

  • REEL TALK S2|Ep4 - Ronnie Chatah
    Oct 3 2024

Join us for an eye-opening discussion with Ronnie Chatah where he tells us his journey of attachment to Lebanon. From the story of his father's assassination to the deep impact Hezbollah has had on the country, the conversation takes us through the complexity of the country and WHY we find ourselves in a war today.
*Disclaimer* - THIS PODCAST WAS FILMED IN AUGUST, 2024
    _______________
For some people, if your father is brutally assassinated, turning to the darkside and seeking revenge are understandable. But for Ronnie Chatah, whose father, Lebanese economist, diplomat and former Minister of Finance, Mohamad Chatah, was murdered in a car bombing in Beirut in 2013, he chose a different course.
My enlightening discussion with Ronnie explores the path to Storytelling that he pursued and which resulted in him expanding his Beirut Walking Tours into the Beirut Banyan Podcast as a tribute to his father.
We explore the people, places and events that have helped shape his views, beliefs and stories and keep him committed to Lebanon as well as touch on the current events, politics and players impacting the country, in particular the impact of Hezbollah over the past 30 or so years, as Israel rains down hell on Lebanon for the thousandth time.
Join me for this fascinating journey with a devoted son of Lebanon.

  • REEL TALK S2|Ep3 - Salah Hijazi
    Sep 26 2024

As Israel's war against Hezbollah reaches devastatingly new heights with the death toll exceeding 600 and injuries in the thousands, mostly civilians, I decided to sit down with journalist @salahhijazi to discuss his three-part series about "The History of Mossad in Lebanon" which was recently published in the French-daily newspaper, Le'Orient Le Jour.
The fascinating discussion includes a recount of Mossad's unprecedented strike on Hezbollah pagers, walkie-talkies and other devices that has been described by UN officials as "state terrorism" as well as historical stories about the first Mossad spy in Lebanon, Mdm Shula Cohen whose demise came at the hands of her Lebanese lover, an undercover operative.
Join me for these and other stories to understand the historical context and complexities that have continued to destabilise and fragment Lebanon sinces its independence in 1943.
