Welcome back to About Damn Crime on the main feed, where we delve into the human side of the biggest true crime headlines. This week, Rabia, Ellyn, and guests Rebecca Lavoie and Kevin Flynn from the 'Crime Writers On' podcast take on the Karen Read murder trial. Did she run down her police officer boyfriend with her SUV? Her lawyer claims she was framed. From drunken fights to deleted texts and uncooperative witnesses, social media is screaming conspiracy, but we unpack the details to get to the bottom of this case.

Then, we dive into the juicy details of that viral U.S. House Oversight showdown. Seriously, it was like a reality TV marathon—Reps. Jasmine Crockett and Marjorie Taylor Greene went head-to-head, throwing shade and grinding the whole thing to a halt.

Finally, Rabia and Ellyn discuss Sean "Diddy" Combs' cowardly Instagram apology after a video of his assault on Cassie Ventura went viral. Will assault charges follow? Tune in for all this and more on About Damn Crime.

Finding Its Footing

I came to R&E Solve the Case (RESTC) as a fan of both Ellyn of Obsessed with Diappeared and Rabia of Undisclosed.

The Good-
- High production quality
- The hosts bring unique perspectives to TC

The Meh-
- The guest element doesn't feel fully integrated yet. They have some wonderful guests on the show, I would love to hear from them more. Or, bring in TC fans, experts of the fields, or remove the guests.
- I feel Ellyn's strengths are underutilized, specifically her humor, compassion, and impressive skills as an interviewer.
- The cases- I think the options given to guests to choose from should be reexamined. I would personally prefer a look at things like Unsolved Mysteries, I think it may make the conversation for accessible to guests.

The summary-
So far, 5 episodes have been released. I think this show is still finding its footing & meshing styles.

my new fave

Rabia playing prosecutors advocate is my favorite because it brings different perspective from a legal point of view. the rotating guests is always exciting hearing people who are interested in true crime but don't necessarily do it for a living.

Thoughtful and entertaining

I'm not a true crime fan, but I think a conversion is in progress. it's refreshing to listen to intelligent thoughts and to be presented with facts and not shock talk. I'll keep listening and watch what happens in the cases presented. Great work!

YASSSSS!! Giving us the podcast we needed!!!

This is the podcast that we absolutely needed!!! Two of my favorite podcasters discussing all the most popular true trime cases we were TOTALLY WRONG ABOUT! Giving all the facts and legal nuance (thanks to Attorney Rabia) that we were never informed on by mainstream media!! Well informed, well discussed, and BRILLIANT! Super big plus that the guests are super famous and interesting and incredibly balanced to hear their perspective and interest in the cases!

THIS IS LIFEL!!!!

I am obsessed with this podcast now. It is SO GOOD!!!! It is everything I’ve ever wanted in a podcast. It’s so draining listening to LITERALLY JUST SPECULATING from people in true crime. It’s absolutely refreshing to hear someone focus on the FACTS. I’ll be binging from the beginning till I catch up. Please never ever stop. 🥺

Great podcast!!!

They make it fun to listen even the most barbarian cases. Very interesting facts about the murders and the victims that most of the time were not made publicly.

I wanted to like it but

But it’s self indulging garbage.
You hear more about them giving each other beauty compliments than you do anything related to true crime. Not with your time
