    RePPiN4U: IT WAS WRITTEN!

    Double feature Interview!

First, J Written returns to the show! New album Kaleidoscope, his UK Tour, his role in the new Bob Marley movie and more!

    Biography:

Born January 18, 1994, Jason ‘Written’ Rasheed Wright was destined for musical prowess from a young age.

Growing up with his mother, father, and two sisters, life for Written was blighted by financial instability and constant moving around various areas of Kingston, Jamaica. “I was unable to socialize with my peers because of my parent’s fear of negative influence,” says Written.

“I was forced to stay inside the house with my sisters. This is how I found out writing and reading was an easy way to escape. I would write daily journals and personal articles on the walls of my homes.”

Writing poems, speeches and essays helped sharpen the tools he uses today. Written joined the debate team at his high school Bridgeport High, which gave Written the confidence he needed to stand in front of a crowd, trying to move the crowd with words, sounds and power.

Written later discovered a talent for dance, even forming a squad at the age of 16. The troupe known as the ACEZ Dancers took Kingston by a storm...

We talk about his career, his talented daughter Shavanique, and he has a new album coming entitled TIBET!

Plus Big tunes by Ciara & Busta Rhymes, Es X Shark, Fes Taylor, Jamil Honesty F/ Inspectah Deck and more!

Kennel Allen aka Admiral Tibet was born in the parish of St. Mary where he attended the Free Hill Primary and Port Maria Secondary Schools respectively.

As a young child growing up, Admiral always had a keen interest in music. Admiral started performing on sound systems in and around his vicinity at a tender age.

Having listened to a wide variety of music, Admiral credits veterans Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs as being his greatest influences.

At the urging of family and friends who recognized his talent, Admiral worked diligently to develop his music skills.

    Biography:

In 1985, Tibet did his first recording for producer Sherman Clacher, entitled “Babylon War” on the Arabic and King International label. This recording gave Admiral recognition locally and internationally. Another single “Leave People Business” produced by Winston Riley on the Techniques label, was an instant hit, followed by “Serious Time” which was recorded for producer Lloyd James on the King Jammys label and was later remixed with two times Grammy winner Shabba Ranks and the Don Gorgon Ninja man on the MPLA rhythm.

This song was also a major hit. Following these hit songs, in 1989 Admiral performed on Jamaica’s biggest stage show, The Reggae Sunsplash, where on Dancehall Night he thrilled thousands of spectators and was recognized as a top performer of the night. Soon after, Admiral Tibet was awarded by The Rockers Awards– “Performer of the Year”. Having gained this status, Admiral Tibet was now booked on most of the major shows in Jamaica, such as Rebel Salute, Sting and The Reggae Sumfest.

In the following years, Tibet recorded for several producers a repertoire of original music reflecting conscious roots, cultural awareness with social commentary. In the year 2000, he recorded “Gone Crazy” for producer Bobby Digital which was a chart mover for several weeks, followed by “Couldn’t Believe It” for artist/producer Sugar Roy on the Fireball label, which also hit the charts. To date, Tibet has recorded nine albums including “Coming to the Light” in 1987 for King Jammys, “Babylon War” for producer Sherman Clacher and “Leave People Business” for producer Winston Riley.

Admiral Tibet has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. With a message of unity and love, Admiral Tibet continues to captivate audiences and leave them craving for more.

    RePPiN4U: Home Of The Brave!

    Special Guest Son Brave: @thesonbrave

Son Brave, a Baltimore native, is a captivating artist driven by an

insatiable passion to explore the ethics, liberty, and identity of

humanity through his thought-provoking and soul-stirring music.

Formerly known as "The Black Sunn" and "Sun Zulu," Son Brave now

stands as an embodiment of that legacy - and that’s one of rich

rhymes from the Baltimore, Maryland MC. Fueling his artistic

odyssey are the imprints left by his brother, a DJ, and his family

who immersed him in a diverse tapestry of melodies spanning from

‘60s soul and '70s funk/disco classics to the golden era of '90s

R&B/Hip Hop. These sonic foundations became fertile soil from

which Son Brave’s artistic identity would sprout and flourish.

His mother always taught him to speak up for himself and what was

right, but it took him a while to understand this fully. What he did

know, however, was the sanctuary of expression found in music.

That sanctuary became Son’s refuge. The rap cyphers, message

board discussions and underground hip-hop blog circuit of the mid-

2000s to early 2010s became fertile grounds for his growth and

connection to people who were just like him.

Eventually, collaborations with blogs such as 2dopeboyz and

illRoots led him to secure touring and live performance

opportunities around the country. He visited places such as New

York, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, D.C. and Chicago in the early 2010s

performing, shooting videos, recording and releasing music. While

in Chicago, Son visited the Harold Washington Library and learned

about YOUmedia. This program provides musical resources, (such

as a recording space and instruments), to young students with

    good grades for free.

Returning to Baltimore, he began to work with nonprofit

organizations such as the AFSC, By Peaceful Means, and Higher

Achievement. His work taught him how to empower city youth

through artistic expression. These experiences galvanized his own

artistic craft and allowed him to provide the same sanctuary that

he found in music to youth just like him. His unwavering

commitment to this cause also gave birth to a Bachelor's of Science

degree in Multiplatform Production from Morgan State University,

solidifying his prowess as a multimedia virtuoso.

Son Brave is an artist who weaves an intricate tapestry of sounds

and stories across mediums encompassing audio, video and more.
