    Cenna Khatib is a vibrant 25-year-old, who serves as an Inclusion Teacher in Lynn Public Schools and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive educational environment. Her journey began in 2021 when she graduated from Hofstra University, where she not only earned a BA degree in Psychology and Creative Writing but also held the prestigious position of President at Hofstra Sp!t, a spoken word club. Cenna's passion for poetry ignited over 13 years ago amidst the turmoil of the Syrian Revolution, sparking her profound desire to express herself through verse. Recently she unveiled her debut poetry collection, "The Screams I Whisper", marking a significant milestone in her literary endeavors.

In this collection of dramatic readings, Julie brings to life some of classic literature's most exciting leading ladies, along with several historical women who created brilliant works in defense of their gender including Lysistrata, Joan of Arc, Anna E. Dickinson ("America's Joan of Arc"), Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, Louisa May Alcott, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Christine de Pizan, and more.

    Julie Butters is a Salem-based actress and writer, a cantor at St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant, and an aide at the Swampscott Public Library. A graduate of Harvard University, where she co-chaired the Hyperion Shakespeare Company, Julie has portrayed many inspiring women, including Julian of Norwich, Jo March, and Jane Eyre.

    Happy Birthday, Edgar Allen Poe! Presenter Ken Grout talks with Agatha Morrell about the life, love, and literature of one of America's most iconic authors.

    Poe was born January 19, 1809, in Boston, MA, and died October 7, 1849 (aged 40) in Baltimore, MD. His most famous works are poems “To Helen” (1831), “The Raven” (1845), and “Annabel Lee” (1849); the short stories of wickedness and crime “The Tell-Tale Heart” (1843) and “The Cask of Amontillado” (1846); and the supernatural horror story “The Fall of the House of Usher” (1839) and "Murders at the Rue Morgue" (1841) which is said to have "initiated the modern detective story".

    Ken Grout is a professor and writer who teaches and works with the art of oral presentation of literature. He was recently selected as an auditor by the Chautauqua Training Institute and is currently working on presentational material relating to both Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allan Poe.

    Ken is a full-time faculty member in the Communication Studies Department at Emerson College in Boston, where he teaches Introduction to Speech Communication and Oral Presentation of Literature.
