  • The Ant and the Grasshopper One warm summer day, a grasshopper was happily singing and dancing, enjoying the sunshine, while an ant was working hard, collecting and storing grains of wheat for the winter. The grasshopper mocked the ant, asking why he was toiling so hard instead of enjoying the warm weather. The ant replied that he was preparing for the cold winter months ahead when there would be no food. The grasshopper laughed and continued singing and playing, not worrying about the future. When winter arrived, the grasshopper found himself cold and hungry, while the ant was safe and warm in his nest with plenty of food stored up. The grasshopper soon became desperate and begged the ant for food and shelter. The ant initially refused, reminding the grasshopper of his laziness during the summer. However, taking pity on him, the ant eventually let the grasshopper into his nest and shared his provisions.
