Middle East: Preparations for a widening war continue to made among all parties. An increase in U.S. military aviation traffic has been noted throughout the Middle East theatre, along with at least one Russian cargo flight directly into Tehran. Jordanian and Egyptian leadership have again voiced somewhat passive support for Israel with both claiming that they will attempt to shoot down any Iranian or Houthi munitions that breach their airspace.

United Kingdom: The situation in Southport has intensified following the media engaging in propaganda efforts with regards to the attacker, as well as governmental agencies cracking down on demonstrators with a heavy hand. Demonstrations in Sunderland, Nottingham, Southport, Portsmouth, Hull, Manchester, and Middlesbrough have been organized this weekend to protest PM Starmer’s decision to launch a special task force to investigate protests of knife attacks, instead of the knife attacks themselves.

Contributing to the palpable outrage, the media has routinely used photographs of the attacker from when he was a small child in the press coverage of the event, with some media outlets calling him a “quiet schoolboy” who “starred in a musical”. This factor alone has worsened the situation once locals discovered that the attacker was a full-grown man who was observed to be laughing in court when he appeared before the judge immediately after the attack. Recent political speeches and the use of facial recognition and advanced intelligence collection techniques by authorities to stifle protests has caused even more conflagration, along with the overwhelmingly pro-immigrant protesters who have organized demonstrations supporting immigration over the past few days.

South America: Unrest in Venezuela continues as casualties mount. Though challenging to verify, some sources claim the death toll surrounding the recent demonstrations has risen to 11. Opposition to Maduro among the populace remains high nevertheless, with demonstrations continuing throughout several cities.

Washington D.C. – The Pentagon has reached a plea deal with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, one of the key leaders associated with the planning of the 9/11 terror attacks. This deal allegedly removes the death penalty from being sought for Mohammad’s role in the attacks.

In Congress, Senator Graham has introduced S.J.Res.106, a joint resolution to preemptively declare war on Iran under the War Powers Resolution due to Iranian threats to Israel.

Virginia: Two probable terrorists were released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after posting a combined $25,000 bail. Hasan Yousef Hamdan and Mohammad Khair Dabous were arrested in May for attempting to breach a gate at Marine Corps Base Quantico. Both men are Jordanian nationals who gained entry to the U.S. illegally. Though unconfirmed, at least one of them is allegedly on a terror watchlist. Nevertheless, ICE released these individuals despite both being in the U.S. illegally (one having overstayed a student visa, the other having crossed the southern border illegally).

Analyst Comments: The recent events taking place to highlight the vulnerabilities within the United States should probably be observed through the lens of normalcy as from a few years ago. This alone highlights how far the goal posts of societal norms have shifted.

The Quantico incident was almost certainly an intelligence collection operation, or a dry-run for a future VBIED attack on the base. The two men, driving an unmarked box truck, initially claimed to be an Amazon subcontractor making a delivery on the base. However, the gate guards quickly determined that this was not true. Middle East: Tensions remain high as the region awaits Iran’s response to Israel’s latest targeting of Hamas, Hezbollah, and IRGC leadership in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. Limited unconfirmed reporting suggests the Houthi forces in Yemen, as well as Hezbollah in Lebanon may coordinate a response with whatever actions Iran takes.

United Kingdom: The assailant who murdered three children and wounded many others in Southport has been identified as Axel Muganwa Rudakubana. The judge ruled to deny a protection order regarding the assailant’s identity due to Rudakubana turning 18 years old on August 7th.

Virginia: An ammonia leak caused significant injuries at a food processing facility in Sterling yesterday evening. 26 employees of Cuisine Solutions were hospitalized for ammonia exposure, with four employees experiencing severe symptoms. Authorities have indicated the cause of the leak was the failure of a relief valve on an ammonia tank.

Analyst Comments: Most indications suggest that Iran will probably launch a larger attack than their retaliatory drone strikes back in April. Those previous attacks were comparatively ineffective and afforded Israel many hours to prepare for impact. However, if the Houthi’s are indeed planning to coordinate strikes with Iran (the logistics of which are questionable), this may present additional complications over the next few days. Yemen has already demonstrated the ability to use deception tactics to sneak long-range attack drones along commercial aviation corridors to successfully strike Tel Aviv. The canceling of commercial flights into Israel, and the general dwindling of aviation traffic throughout the entire region may be an acknowledgement that Houthi deception techniques are effective. However, this time, by removing commercial airliners from the equation, it’s not clear as to if the Iranians or Houthi’s will make good use of this trick again.

Middle East: Overnight, Israel conducted an airstrike in Iran, targeting Ismail Haniyeh (a senior Hamas leader) in Tehran. AC: As recently as May, Haniyeh was responsible for (or heavily involved in) the overall ceasefire negotiation efforts as mediated by a joint Qatari-Egyptian mediation team.

In Syria, IRGC General Amir Ali Hajizadeh was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike in Damascus.

This morning, the United States increased the travel advisory for Lebanon to Level 4, Do Not Travel. Delta Airlines, United, and British Airways have announced that they will stop flights to Israel, beginning tomorrow. AC: At this time, it is unclear as to if this is a temporary cessation of flights, or if this is a more prolonged cancelation as the potential for military action in the region remains elevated.

South America: Unrest continues in Venezuela, along with substantial information warfare efforts to shape the perception of what is going on, on the ground. Mass arrests have been reported of some groups responsible for the counter-Maduro unrest throughout the country. However, some military commanders have voiced opposition to Maduro, complicating the situation. General unrest remains constant throughout most major cities, with some businesses temporarily remaining closed in the capital of Caracas. However most businesses appear to be operating as usual, albeit with even fewer products than normal. Increased potential for banditry on the remote roads linking various cities has resulted in many long-haul cargo drivers refusing to drive during this period of heightened instability. Similar concerns have been raised by public transportation drivers, with most routes not operating as usual or with drivers charging more than usual for transportation. Throughout Caracas (and other major cities) an increased police and military presence has largely tempered demonstrations in some areas, but exacerbated tensions in others.

United Kingdom: Unrest in Southport remined kinetic overnight as locals express anger towards the handling of Monday’s stabbing attack that killed three children. Additionally, large pro-immigration counter-protests have sprung up in the wake of the unrest yesterday.

USA: A large recall of potentially contaminated deli meat has spread throughout the country as Boar’s Head widens the recall. Previously, roughly 200,000 pounds of Boar’s Head products were recalled due to an outbreak of Listeria which has caused hospitalizations and least two deaths in 13 states so far. Yesterday, Boar’s Head increased the recall to include an additional 7 million pounds of meat nationwide. AC: This is one of the largest meat recalls in recent history, and highlights the vulnerabilities of food security and contamination potential.

Analyst Comments: Traditionally, in warfare, if a nation is unable to militarily achieve their goals, they must do so politically and diplomatically. Generally speaking, killing the negotiator is counterproductive towards these ends. Israel could have struck Haniyeh at any time, as the target itself was Haniyeh’s private residence in Tehran. However, by coordinating this strike with the Beirut attack this likely was intended to serve several objectives, few of which were of direct military value. In any case, these details and concerns are likely to be overcome by developing events, as the world awaits the next escalation.

//BLUF: ISRAEL STRIKES BEIRUT. RIOTS CONTINUE IN VENEZUELA. CLIMATE ACTIVISTS ATTACK HEATHROW AIRPORT.//

-International Events-

Middle East: This morning Israel struck a residential building in Beirut. The target (a senior Hezbollah commander) was located in the Haret Hreik area, in the southeastern sector of the city. AC: As of this report, this appears to be an isolated strike and not a persistent bombing campaign.

In Israel, mass demonstrations are underway resulting from the detention of 9 IDF soldiers who are accused of very seriously abusing a Palestinian detainee (who is now reportedly in a state of paralysis). The detention of these soldiers sparked immediate and kinetic riots, with demonstrators attempting to breach the perimeter defenses of two separate military bases where the soldiers were being held for questioning, in order to free the detained soldiers.

AC: The abusive acts committed by some (or all) of these soldiers are too graphic and disturbing to describe in this report. Of note, most of the debate of these horrendous acts is not centered around whether or not the soldiers are guilty of the act, but rather whether or not the act itself is a crime. Very high-ranking Israeli politicians (to include National Security Minister Ben-Gvir, and MK Hanoch Milwidsky) have voiced support for the soldiers, taking the stance that such disturbing actions are justified and legal. Consequently, as distasteful and graphic as this incident is (and as unfathomable as it is for this incident to be the reason for unrest) the very kinetic demonstrations resulting from this incident have highlighted fractures between various factional elements within Israel.

South America: Mass rioting and civil unrest is underway in Venezuela following the recent questionable election results. Factional allegiances have complicated the response around the nation. Some reports indicate varying police departments, some soldiers, and even local warlords opposing what is perceived as Maduro’s bid to cling to power. Other reports indicate other police and military forces firing on demonstrators with live rounds. AC: Much of the reasoning for the unrest (and determining how much is related to political issues) remains complicated; some of the rioting is purely undertaken by opportunistic criminals, whereas other groups of armed individuals are exerting political dominance in their local areas. Much of the Venezuelan armed forces (particularly the senior leadership) has voiced support for Maduro, however pockets of soldiers are (in effect) defecting to resistance groups, or otherwise are refusing to target protesting civilians.

United Kingdom: This morning climate activists vandalized London’s Heathrow Airport by spraying paint throughout much of the Terminal 5 departure area. AC: One of the vandals is the same woman who vandalized a Vincent van Gogh painting in the National Gallery of London two years ago. She was convicted of this crime last Thursday. As she is potentially facing several years of imprisonment for the National Gallery attack, this was likely a motivating factor to double-down in serving the Just Stop Oil institution by committing one last attack before being out of commission.

In Southport, another child has died following yesterday’s stabbing attack. This brings the death toll for this attack to three, all of which were children. This afternoon riots broke out in Southport in response to authorities conducting information shaping operations to protect and conceal the identity of the assailant. At least one police vehicle was set on fire during the riot.

Middle East: Indications and warnings of potential Israeli combat operations in Lebanon are mounting. This morning the U.S. Embassy in Beirut began making preparations for unrest involving U.S. citizens. A State Department message urged U.S. citizens in Lebanon to enroll in the STEP program, and “prepare to shelter in place for long periods of time” in the event that evacuation via commercial aviation is not available. This morning some commercial airlines have delayed (or even cancelled) some routine flights into Beirut due to the risks of a widening conflict.

South America: Election irregularities in Venezuela have increased tensions throughout the region. Over the weekend, Venezuela’s latest round of elections has resulted in widespread claims of election fraud as President Nicolas Maduro comes out on top, allegedly winning 51% of the vote.

The international response to this election has been mixed, but largely negative. The United States has condemned what the State Department claims is obvious election tampering. Argentina has made similar condemnations and has refused to officially recognize the results. In Venezuela, protests and demonstrations are mounting. Unrest is also building among the Venezuelan diaspora within the United States, many of which have organized demonstrations in several cities around the US.

AC: Many of the instances of election discrepancies revolve around votes for Maduro mysteriously showing up in the middle of the night. However, this election was openly influenced from the start as Maduro’s original opposition candidate was banned from running in the first place.

United Kingdom: A mass stabbing attack occurred in Southport this morning when an assailant entered a yoga studio and attacked a youth dance class within the building. 2x children were killed in the attack, and 6x children and 2x adults remain in critical condition. The attacker was apprehended at the scene. AC: Few details have been released on the assailant due to the attacker allegedly being 17 years old.

Louisiana: A crude oil spill originating from the Crescent Midstream Crude Oil Facility occurred over the weekend in the Lafourche Bayou. As of yet, the amount of oil spilled has not been determined, and authorities within Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 have issued a request for locals to conserve water. AC: As of this report, authorities claim that no contamination has entered an adjacent water treatment facility. However, locals suggest the spill is more significant than authorities are letting on, and has heavily contaminated the local area.

Analyst Comments: If the actions of the U.S. State Department (combined with commercial airlines canceling flights) are any indicator, an Israeli operation in Lebanon is likely impending soon. As a reminder, the complexity of the overall strategic situation in the North could result in any number of operations conducted by Israel. Over the past few weeks, airstrikes (from Israel) and rocket strikes (via Hezbollah) have been intensifying in the Golan Heights. At this point, some may consider a de facto state of war to already be in place. However, one of the major escalations the international community has been expecting is Israeli combat operations on the ground (i.e. a ground invasion of Lebanon). Though nothing is certain yet, what limited ground operations do occur will probably be framed as a counterterrorism clearance operation of varying locations along the border just inside Lebanon. A busy week has reached us once again, quite a lot of news to catch up on throughout the week. This week I decided to break up the content into two separate videos; this first part, which is the standard news update, and a second part (which I'm editing right now) that covers some more in-the-weeds ideas of the recent Russian/Chinese incursion flight that occurred a few days ago. That incident was quite interesting, but also quite boring and probably not particularly immediately useful to everyone, so I decided to separate it out into it's own video.
