SYNOPSIS:  The Enterprise takes a moment aside on the way to their next mission in order to visit the planet where Data was discovered.  A good look around provides Mr. Data with flashes of memory he did not know he possessed; but more pivotally, it also provides a "brother."  The discovery of the disassembled android prompts Commander Riker and the crew to bring it aboard the Enterprise, where engineers, scientists, and Doctor Crusher work to reassemble this second Data.  When they do, he names himself Lore, and becomes eager to learn about his new surroundings.  Data notes it and Lore begins to show his hand: that he believes himself superior to the humans on the ship.  Despite finding a brother, who has many things to teach him about their father and the colonists, Data still pursues his ultimate goal of becoming more human, which Lore does not agree with.  Lore deactivates Data and takes his place, saying (in disguise) that it was Lore who attacked and that he cannot be trusted.  He summons the crystalline entity that destroyed the colony, leaving both Data and Lore stranded there, to the Enterprise, offering the ship's complement as the next meal for it.  But Wesley Crusher sees past the ruse and stands up on the bridge to say so, ultimately getting himself dismissed for speaking out of turn.  He takes his mother to Data's quarters, where they find their unconscious crewmate lying on the ground.  They reactivate him, learn of Lore's complete plan, and then set out to stop him.  Data and Wesley work together to defeat Lore and beam him into space.  Captain Picard admits that he should have listened to Wesley in the first place.  He and Riker affirm that Mr. Data may be the most human of them all.  But will Lore be heard from again?

SYNOPSIS: Captain Picard must study for a very specific diplomatic engagement with an insectoid species, known as the Jarada.  The last encounter with these particular people ended terribly for the Starfleet captain involved in the exchange, as well as 20 years of no contact between the Jarada and the Federation.  The pressure is high, especially if Picard wants to survive the encounter, but Counselor Troi suggests that there is such a thing as studying too hard for something and that the captain might do himself some good by visiting the newly upgraded Holodeck for some recreation.  He engages in a Private Eye scenario, playing the hero Dixon Hill in the gangster drama, and immediately finds the world the Holodeck creates to be just as vivid and real as the ship and her complement.  So he invites his crew to join him in the fun!  An invitation that Dr. Crusher, Data, and, as requested, the ship's expert on the 20th century, Whalen, are happy to take up.  But the probe the Jarada send out to scan the Enterprise causes a malfunction in the Holodeck's circuitry and the captain and his companions become trapped inside the simulated world, where they find themselves on the wrong side of a mob boss by the name of Redblock.  At first it's all fun and games, and even possibly a romantic interlude for Picard and Dr. Crusher. But after a stint under interrogation by the police, Picard (as Dixon Hill) encounters Redblock and his goons, who come in search of a mysterious item that will provide them with great riches.  The encounter goes south fast, when Whalen is shot and, despite the Holodeck's safety protocols, begins to bleed out on the floor of Dixon Hill's office.  In a race to get his injured crewman out of the Holodeck where he can be saved, Picard decides the only way forward is to tell the holographic character Redblock that he is not, in fact real, and that this is just a simulated world.  Meanwhile, Commander Riker continues to try to stall the Jarada, who will only speak to Captain Picard and grow increasingly put out by the captain's absence.  Wesley Crusher engages in a risky procedure to get the Holodeck doors open and the program to deactivate, and it works; but Redblock takes the opportunity to deny Picard and his team their exit, and instead decides this new world is his to plunder.  After Redblock disappears into thin air outside the Holodeck doors, Data carries Whalen to Sickbay, with Dr. Crusher in tow; leaving Picard to reconcile what just happened for his newfound holographic friend, Detective Dan Bell.

SYNOPSIS: The Enterprise stops at a planet known as Haven, which is legendary for its beauty and serenity but also for its power to heal.  There, they are surprised to discover that Deanna Troi was promised at a young age to marry her father's best friend's son, Wyatt.  When her mother Lwaxana beams aboard with her intended and his family, the Millers, arguments ensue as to how the marriage or bonding ceremony will be performed.  As the parents continue to insult and fight over it (and without asking whether or not their offspring even want to join), Deanna must reconcile her feelings of being forced into a marriage arranged long ago to a man she has never met with her feelings for Commander Riker, her Imzadi.  She bonds with Wyatt over the experience and decides that she will follow through with the wedding and learn to love and live with Wyatt over time because he's a good man.  But an alien species arrives in orbit of the planet that threatens the safety of everyone on the planet and aboard the Enterprise with an ancient plague that has destroyed their entire species, and many other worlds to which they have fled seeking refuge.  It's discovered that Wyatt has been drawing one of the aliens his entire life, and that she too, has been drawing him her entire life.  He decides that his destiny is aboard the alien vessel and he beams over without authorization to live out the life he feels he was always meant to live, thus breaking the marriage pact and allowing Deanna to move forward with her life as a member of the Enterprise crew.
