Safeguarding a Generation from Technology

  • Summary

  • Technology has changed our lives. We live in an era where information is readily accessible and distributed to countless people across the globe. Industries have been disrupted or altogether upended due to miraculous technological advances. Progress is being made to change the world, but there has been collateral damage. Families need to find a balanced digital lifestyle, or they could face countless repercussions. Along with special co-host, Gen Padalecki, we spoke with one of the leaders spearheading the initiative to spread awareness about the growing issues with technology.

Called the “closest thing Silicon Valley has to a conscience,” by The Atlantic magazine, Tristan Harris spent three years as a Google Design Ethicist developing a framework for how technology should “ethically” steer the thoughts and actions of billions of people from screens. He is now co-founder & president of the Center for Humane Technology, whose mission is to reverse ‘human downgrading’ and re-align technology with humanity. Harris stars in the recent Netflix Documentary, The Social Dilemma, which has catapulted the fight for our attention and issues with technology into the global spotlight. As parents, we need to know more about this problem and help save the next generation from its pitfalls. Harris shares his wisdom and insight so that more families are equipped to tackle this issue at home.
