  • Sathnam Sanghera is a British journalist and the Sunday Times bestselling author of Empireland: How Modern Britain is Shaped by its Imperial Past.

    He has recently launched the highly-anticipated, acclaimed sequel to Empireland, Empireworld: How British Imperialism Has Shaped the Globe.

    In our conversation, we chat through the paradoxical legacies raised in his book through the lens of someone (me!) who was born and raised in an ex-British Colony, Malaysia.

    Book Empireland and Empireworld made me see how intricately woven my life (and life choices) have been with the complex (and often contradictory) legacies of the British Empire.

    Sathnam is also author of the novel Marriage Material and the memoir The Boy With The Topknot, (a memoir that was heartbreaking, laugh out loud funny, and tender in equal parts)
