  • S1:E8: The Senseless Torture Death of 10-year-old Emani Moss- "The Evil Stepmother"
    Jul 21 2024

Gwinnett County, GA — In this heartbreaking case, I break down the senseless torture death of 10-year-old Emani Moss who died from starvation and malnourishment on October 28, 2013, at the hands of her Stepmother and Father.

Born to a mother struggling with addiction, Emani was raised by her father, Eman, after her biological mother surrendered parental rights.

Eman later married Tiffany Moss, who subjected Emani to severe abuse, escalating after an incident in March 2010 when Tiffany lost her job and blamed Emani. Despite signs of abuse, including multiple reports of abuse to authorities, Emani was returned to her father’s custody, where the abuse escalated.

This case shook the nation and spurred significant reforms in Georgia’s child welfare system and highlighted the disparities in investigating abuse claims.

Tacoma, WA—Every 40 seconds, a child goes missing or is abducted in the U.S. Approximately, 840,000 children are reported missing each year.

While most reports of missing children are resolved, 2-year-old Teekah Lewis has been missing for 25 years. On January 23, 1999 - Teekah Lewis and nearly a dozen of her family members spent the event bowling at The New Frontier Bowling Lanes in Tacoma, Washington. Teekah was a few feet away from her mother playing a race car video game. When it was her mother’s (Theresa) turn to bowl, she glanced over her shoulder to check on Teekah who was quietly playing, but when she turned around mere seconds later, Teekah was nowhere to be found.

Teekah Lewis’ disappearance would set into motion a 25-year fight for justice in finding out what happened to Teekah.

Joining me in this week’s episode is Theresa Czapiewski (Teekah’s mother) as she details the events that happened before Teekah disappeared including new details regarding a suspect description that surfaced decades later and the mishandling of her daughter’s disappearance by Tacoma Police, along with her 25-year fight for answers as to what happened to her 2-year-old daughter.

According to witnesses, Tamla got up at 2 a.m. to smoke a cigarette on the back porch balcony. The next day her body would be found face down in the backyard from an apparent fall.

  • S1:E5: The Senseless and Mysterious Death of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson "Accident or Cold-Blooded Murder?"
    Jun 30 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Valdosta, Georgia —On January 11, 2013, the body of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson “KJ” was found in the most unusual of circumstances: upside-down and rolled up in a school gym mat. The mysterious death of Kendrick Johnson was initially ruled an accident by law enforcement, but his family was not convinced.

The initial autopsy revealed that Kendrick died due to “positional asphyxia” or that he suffocated as a result of being stuck upside-down in an enclosed space for an extended period of time. Just after 24 hours of being found, the investigators ruled Johnson’s death an accident with little to no investigation.

The Sheriff’s Department claimed that Kendrick must have accidentally fallen into the center of the mat while reaching for a sneaker, which he had stored his shoes in the gym mat, so that he wouldn’t have to pay for a locker to store his shoes. But Kendrick's parents have refuted those claims.

Kendrick’s parents felt that his death was not being taken seriously, in part because of his race or that there was a larger cover-up at play that included witness tampering, by a former FBI Agent. There was an alleged fight that took place between Kendrick and The Bell Brothers (Brian and Brandon) to which it was reported that the brothers had beef with Kendrick due to his popularity with the girls at school.

Check out this week’s episode for more on this case and let me know what you think. Was this a tragic accident or cold-blooded murder?

  • S1:E4: The Senseless Disappearance of 8-year-old Relisha Rudd “Frozen in Time”
    Jun 24 2024

    Send us a Text Message.

Washington, DC– Relisha Rudd was just 8-years old when she went missing on March 1, 2014. Relisha’s mother Shamika Young had fallen on hard times and Relisha and her three younger brothers were all living at the D.C General Shelter (now closed) when a 51-year-old janitor that worked at the shelter -Khalil Tatum befriended Shamika and she allowed Tatum to spend time alone with her 8-year-old daughter away from the shelter. Tatum bought the young girl a tablet and clothing and Relisha even spent the night with Tatum at his grandmother’s home. Residents who lived at the shelter reported that Tatum would single out the young girls at the shelter and would often buy them gifts, but the same was not offered to the young boys who resided at the shelter.

This case would be turned upside down when school officials and social workers reported to DCFS that Relisha had missed upwards of 30 days of school, this set off alarms, and the authorities were contacted, an Amber Alert was issued for the 8-year- old little girl, but even the reporting of Relisha’s disappearance wouldn’t reach news outlets until it was far too late. Shamika claimed that she failed to report her daughter missing because she didn’t want to lose her other children to the foster care system. What would happen next would set off the biggest mishandling of the Amber Alert Missing Persons notification system and the miscarriage of justice in locating Relisha Rudd. As of today, 10 years later, Relisha is still missing.

This case includes discussion of suicide. If you or someone you know needs help, the national suicide and crisis lifeline is available by calling or texting 988. There is also an online chat at 988 lifeline.org.
