• All Things Recovery with Danny Shannon
    Aug 11 2024
In this episode of Sh*ts F*cked, Paris Le Maistre sits down with Danny Shannon, founder of Encapsulator, to have a real conversation about addiction recovery and whether abstinence is the only way forward. Danny, who’s been sober since September 2009, shares his own story of navigating addiction and finding a way out that worked for him. Paris and Danny dig into the idea that recovery doesn’t have to mean total abstinence for everyone. They discuss harm reduction, personal growth, and how recovery can look different for each person. Danny talks about his work with Encapsulator, where he helps people capture their progress through video journaling, and why being honest with yourself is so crucial in the recovery process. Paris adds her own experiences into the mix, reflecting on the difficulties she faced in finding support that actually made a difference. This episode offers a down-to-earth chat about the different ways people can approach recovery, without sugar-coating the realities. Don't forget to follow/subscribe for more episodes! • The Impact of My Addiction on My Sister, Capri
    Jun 8 2024

This episode is a tough one, but it's also one of the most important chats we've ever had. My sister Capri and I (Paris) sat down to talk about the real impact my meth and alcohol addiction had on her life. No fancy jargon, just an honest, raw conversation between siblings. We get into the nitty-gritty of how addiction doesn’t just affect the person going through it, but also the loved ones around them. Capri opens up about her struggles, the heartbreak, and the tough love she had to show to help me find my way to recovery. This isn't an easy story to share, but we believe it's a crucial part of the journey.

  • Healing from Sexual Trauma with Tina Meyer
    May 12 2024
I (Paris) and Tina get deep into the gaps that are currently present when it comes to healing from sexual trauma, and how our own government and police forces have let victims down. — About The Blue Butterfly Institute: The Blue Butterfly Institute, based in New South Wales and founded by Tina Meyer in 2021, is a not-for-profit organisation operating primarily online with a mission to provide FREE support, advocacy, and education for victims and survivors of sexual trauma, whom they refer to as "chrysalites." Tina, herself a survivor of sexual trauma, recognised the need for a central agency to address the gaps in support and education in the aftermath of trauma. The institute offers FREE services tailored to children, youth, and adult survivors, as well as their families and caregivers. Tina's personal journey of healing, which began in 2017 during a leave from teaching, highlighted the intersection between her childhood trauma and her experiences as an educator dealing with allegations of sexual misconduct. This realisation led to the inception of the institute, fueled by a sense of urgency after encountering cases of delayed support for victims, including children. Despite setbacks such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Tina persisted in bringing her vision to life. In January 2021, the groundwork for the institute began, culminating in its official establishment in April 2021. A team of volunteers joined Tina in shaping the institute's mission and objectives, emphasising advocacy, support, and community education on the impact of trauma. The institute's formation coincided with the onset of a prolonged lockdown in Greater Sydney, symbolising the collective trauma the organisation seeks to address. Through its online platform and outreach efforts, The Blue Butterfly Institute strives to create a safe space for personal and community empowerment, raising awareness about the effects of sexual trauma while providing a pathway to healing and resilience. — Find Tina Meyer Here: https://www.thebluebutterflyinstitute.org.au https://www.facebook.com/thebluebutterflyinstitute https://www.instagram.com/thebluebutterflyinstitute https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-blue-butterfly-institute/ — Australia Wide Directory of Services: https://www.myservices.org.au/ Western Australian AOD Services: https://wanada.org.au/greenbook/ Aus AOD Phone Line: National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline: 1800 250 015 Aus Phone Lines for Anxiety, Depression, Suicide Ideation: Lifeline: 13 11 14 Suicide Call Back Services: 1300 659 467 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 Mind Spot: 1800 61 44 34 Head to Health: 1800 595 212 Mens Line: 1300 78 99 78 Aus Phone Lines for First Nations: 13YARN: 13 92 76 Thirrili: 1800 805 801 Aus Phone Lines for LGBTQIA+ Community: QLife: 1800 184 527 Aus Phone Lines for Children/Youth: Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800 Headspace: 1800 650 890 — Our Guest Speakers Mental Health & Addiction Services/Resources: https://matrixprogram.com.au/ https://luma.org.au/ https://coachcarly.com/ https://www.instagram.com/sarah_koeberl_coach/ https://carolinebrunne.com/ https://www.instagram.com/joelriliffe/ https://www.thebluebutterflyinstitute.org.au/ — Follow The Podcast Here: https://www.facebook.com/shtsfckedthepodcast/ https://www.instagram.com/shtsfcked/ https://www.youtube.com/@UChakY4S8T_A1iXIDSzQ8D3g https://www.linkedin.com/in/paris-le-maistre-880761b5/ https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShtsFcked — #addictionrecovery #recoveryjourney #australianpodcast #soberlife #drugaddiction #mentalhealth #traumahealing #traumarecovery
