Stories of war and warfare have long been dominated by men as the principal armed actors. However, women have nevertheless been present in nearly every military conflict in a wide range of capacities, responding to the violence around them in a variety of ways. This podcast tells their stories. “She Did What Now?!: Warrior Women” is all about individual women and their experiences with and contributions to warfare over time. In each episode, we will talk to a historian about a different woman they found in the course of their research whose story blew their mind. We’ll talk about who these incredible women were, what they did, and how we know what we know about them. Sometimes these women are well documented and we know a lot. Other times, they only have a couple of quick mentions in the archives and we’ll be left with unanswerable questions. Either way, these women were there, taking part, making future historians say “she did what now?!” So join us! As we bring these warrior women out of the shadows of the archives and place them back in the fray of the wars they too were a part of.
