    This week Tom & Zeus review the 2005 KISS DVD, "Rock The Nation Live!" KISS' "Rock The Nation Live" DVD came out in 2005 and was a live concert video of two KISS concerts, one in Washington D.C. & the other in Virginia Beach performed on July 24 and July 25, respectively from the Rock The Nation tour. The DVD featured 20 songs and some bonus features and behind the scenes segments and something called KISS Powervision, which allowed you as the viewer to select a different camera angles, each focusing on a different member. The DVD was successful, like most KISS videos and went double platinum. The guys give their favorite 5 songs from the concert and then they rank the video against previously reviewed KISS documentaries/videos.     On the 55th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, comedian and podcaster Don Jamieson, review the 1991 legendary album by Metallica, the self-titled album known as the "Black Album." The "Black Album" was Metallica's fifth studio album. It propelled Metallica from a small, but dedicated fan base to superstardom. Led by frontman, main lyricist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfied, polarizing drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist extraordinaire Kirk Hammet and bassist Jason Newsted. The album features five singles including a couple ballads, which were unheard of previously and the now classic, Enter Sandman. Although they did have a video for the previous album's single, "One", Metallica really utilized MTV and the music video format to propel the "Black Album." The album made it to Number 1 on the US Billboard charts and has now gone 16X platinum, making it not only Metallica's biggest selling album, but one of the biggest selling album in history. The album was produced by Bob Rock and although it may have been a tumultuous relationship, which was documented, the result cannot be denied. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Tom's pick.     This week Tom & Zeus review the 1983 pivotal album, "Lick It Up" This was KISS' 11th studio album and the 23rd KISS studio album reviewed by SIOL. Lick It Up was the first studio album from KISS without the makeup. Before the release, the band was on MTV and unmasked with MTV VJ the late great J.J. Jackson and premiered the video for Lick It Up. This was the first (and last) credited album with Vinnie Vincent as a member. First not to have Ace Frehley credited as a member. First KISS album without any outside songwriters credited on an album. The album was produced by Michael James Jackson, who had just produced the previous album, Creatures Of The Night and the four original tracks on the compilation Killers. This was a critical point in KISStory. The band taking off the makeup was a big gamble. However, Paul kept thinking the audience was listening to KISS with their eyes and they needed to make this change. Now without the makeup, KISS was competing with their contemporaries on a even playing field. How did they do? Well, the album brought them back to not just gold status, but platinum. The addition of Vinnie Vincent was a difference maker. His guitar playing was great, but the energy he brought with his songwriting was just so evident. He co-wrote 8 of the 10 songs on the album, including the legendary title track, Lick It Up. The guys discuss the album cover, the videos and make a few bold statements about the album and the band with Vinnie Vincent. As usual the guys breakdown and analyze the tracks and rank the songs SIOL style. As always, they then compare the album and album cover and rank it against the previous studio albums reviewed.     This week Tom & Zeus breakdown KISS' 1993 appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show. Arsenio Hall was the coolest late-night talk show in the 1990's. KISS was in their Revenge lineup era and paid a visit to Arsenio to promote KISS Alive III. The band performed two songs from KISS Alive III, Detroit Rock City & Deuce. In between the songs, Arsenio interviewed, Gene, Paul, Bruce and Eric. The guys breakdown the appearance in SIOL fashion and discuss the Revenge lineup as well.
