  • Amanda Winkelman
    May 10 2023

Amanda Winkelman has been tying and designing Steelhead flies since 2019. Her prior experience with color, texture and design in creative art, had her published internationally several times over in papercrafting. She has taken this love to a new realm. With her passion for nature, fish and flowing rivers, it seemed a natural progression to move into fly tying design and production.  She is a fly tying as well as fly casting instructor and ties on the Jr. Prostaff for Chinook Wind Outfitters. Amanda also works as the Women's Fly Fishing Program Lead at Emerald Water Anglers in West Seattle. She is an advocate for getting anyone interested  out on the water with a fly rod in hand! When not working in the Fly Fishing Industry, Amanda volunteers for Warriors and Quiet Waters, helping post 9/11 vets and their loved ones find peace and joy in life being on the water fly fishing. A PNW native, she resides north of Seattle with her husband and 5 children.

Amanda was awarded the 2022 FFI Washington State Fly Tyers Award.

  • Puget Sound Women On The Fly
    Mar 20 2023

Been fishing since 2019 after taking a class in college. Moved to Washington in late 2019 and have been exploring the area for the last few years. I always want to be on a river or a creek with a dry fly, but looking forward to trying some more still water this year!

  • Carol And Skip Morris Episode
    Mar 20 2023

Skip:  Over the past thirty years Skip Morris has published twenty-two books on fly fishing and fly tying (among them, Fly Tying Made Clear and Simple, Western River Hatches, Trout Flies for Rivers, and Morris & Chan on Fly Fishing Trout Lakes) and over 350 magazine articles. Skip has taught clinics, given Powerpoint shows and fly-tying presentations at fly expos and clubs in California and Arizona, Michigan, Iowa, Texas, Alabama, and a bunch of other states, in three Canadian provinces, and overseas.

The spring 2014 issue of Fly Tyer  magazine announced Skip as a winner of the magazine's lifetime achievement award.

Skip’s wife, Carol, provides much of the photography in Skip’s work and all the illustrations. They live, currently, with one willful cat named Olive on Washington’s lush Olympic Peninsula amid its myriad opportunities for both fresh and saltwater fly fishing.

    Carol:

Carol Ann Morris is a speaker, photographer, videographer, and artist (watercolor, pen and ink, pencil, clay, jewelry) who partners with her husband Skip on his books, magazine articles, instructional videos, and website.

Carol's Etsy store, CarolAMorrisFlyFish, features illustrations, paintings, photographs and other artwork (paired with detailed information sheets about each subject) that reflect her love of fly fishing.

Her photographs and illustrations have appeared separate from Skip's work, in Gray's Sporting Journal, Yale Angler's Journal, Fly Fishing & Tying Journal, Fly Fisherman, America's Favorite Flies, and others. Carol has performed her PowerPoint presentation titled "Fly Fishing Photography 101: How to Capture What You See" at fly clubs and sportsman's shows around the US and Canada. She has recently added some more PowerPoint presentations, and has performed these shows at fly fishing clubs and sportsmans events, including virtual presentations by Zoom.
