  • When Stephen Gillen was dropped in the middle of Belfast at the height of The Troubles, he didn't yet know just how the war surrounding him would impact the rest of his life. What came next was a life in and out of prison, first being sentenced aged just 14 years. He spent 20 years in Category A prisons for serious crime, surrounded by some of the country's most notorious criminals, including Charles Bronson. At the turn of the millennium, Stephen decided that he needed to find a new life. Since leaving prison, he has written three books (including "The Monkey Puzzle Tree" which has since been optioned to become a film) and has dedicated his life to helping others.
