As it is the start of a new year & a new decade many individuals, myself included, set New Years resolutions or goals that we hope to achieve in the new year. • 7 Tips On Finding The Perfect Therapist
    Jan 12 2020
This month I want to focus on therapeutic expectations and how to set realistic goals.  That all starts with finding the perfect therapist for you.  Don’t be afraid to shop around for the perfect fit.  A therapist is completely different than any other health provider you will see.  You may see a doctor or dentist for routine checkups and not really care if you don’t see them again on your next visit.  But a therapist is different.  This is someone who you are going to be vulnerable with and share intimate details about yourself that you may not have ever shared before.  It is important to be comfortable and confident with your therapist.  I want to share with you seven tips on choosing the perfect therapist for you. https://www.patreon.com/StuffYouShouldKnowAboutTherapy (Support the show) (https://www.patreon.com/StuffYouShouldKnowAboutTherapy) Support this podcast

  • How Long Should You Go To Therapy?
    Jan 19 2020
Continuing this month’s theme I want to talk about the length of time therapy takes.  Therapy is a process, an active process between you and your therapist.  It is not a quick fix or a cure all.  As everyone and every situation is different, determining the length of therapy is a tough question, there is no one right answer.  The therapeutic journey depends on several factors including the reasons that brought you to therapy, the type of therapy the therapist is using, and your willingness to actively work with your therapist in achieving your therapeutic goal among other factors.  All of these  need to be considered and talked about during the initial session.  If  nothing else, that first session usually ends with some type of game plan laid out for you with a rough draft of what the process will look like. https://www.patreon.com/StuffYouShouldKnowAboutTherapy (Support the show) (https://www.patreon.com/StuffYouShouldKnowAboutTherapy) Support this podcast
