  • Summary

  • Welcome to Successfully Sustainable, a podcast all about learning how to live a more attainable, maintainable, sustainable lifestyle! We believe that the world isn't going to be saved by a few people being perfectly sustainable all the time, it'll be saved by a lot of people being imperfectly sustainable, in different ways, some of the time. We talk to trailblazers in the sustainability space, from chefs to activists, manufacturers to restauranteurs, in an effort to find out about more and more different ways to make all of our lives just a little bit more sustainable.

In response to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) releasing their 6th Assessment Report (AR6), Brad Farrell recorded this special episode of Successfully Sustainable from COVID isolation.  This episode serves to dive deeper into the core motivations and ethic behind why we started this podcast, as well as to try to raise awareness of the dire state of climate change on Earth.  Brad unpacks some of the root causes, separates sustainability from any sort of established identity, delves into the differences between valid reasons and lazy justifications, and finally get into some practical actions YOU can take to start to reduce your impact on the environment.

David Le Page is the co-ordinator and interim chair of Fossil Free South Africa, the South African campaign for fossil free divestment.  Fossil fuel divestment is one of six key ‘nudges’ that could tip humanity towards rapid decarbonisation.  Academics argue most responsible investment practice in SA has little substance.  Fossil Free SA want to change that with real movements of capital into robust fossil-free ESG funds.   If you want to hear more about how you can help change the way that the institutions that you are a part of contribute directly and indirectly to climate change and the ongoing validation of fossil fuel corporations, you need to listen to this episode!
