Sunrun ($RUN) Unleashes First Vehicle-to-Home Power Source Using Ford F-150 Lightning

  • Resumen

  • Sunrun (NASDAQ: RUN), the leading provider of clean energy, is now operating the nation's first vehicle-to-home power plant using customer-owned bidirectional electric vehicles. In collaboration with Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, the initiative uses all-electric Ford F-150 Lightning trucks to provide power to homes during peak demand times this summer, supporting Maryland's power grid.

The program involves three Sunrun customers who own a Ford Lightning paired with the Ford Charge Station Pro and Home Integration System. This initiative will enable customers to use and share energy for up to 10 days during outages, depending on energy usage.

Sunrun is managing and monitoring the enrolled F-150 Lightning trucks as they share stored energy during dispatch windows from June 1 to September 30. Enrolled customers will receive payments based on the amount of energy shared, with an estimated total of $800 over the four-month program.

Sunrun CEO Mary Powell stated: “This exciting partnership lays the foundation for the power grid of the future where electric vehicle owners can contribute to grid resiliency and utility price stability for everyone.”

Sunrun’s innovative products and solutions are connecting homes to locally-generated, renewable clean energy.
