Yet to be equally sure, Rabbainu Bachaya has, and will continue to emphasize that the benefits of Bitachon aren't unique to a tiny circle of saintly Tzadikim; perfectly righteous and fully deserving individuals. The idea that brazenly ignoring Hashem instructions render one's Trust in Him less than effective isn't surprising. However, there certainly seems to more to the Blessings of Bitachon than a straightforward equation of punishment and Reward, and Divine Consequences.
